the body shop japanese cherry blossom body lotion review

This review is so long due now..! I had bought the perfume from this range ages ago and loved it so much that I finally bought the body lotion from this range to layer the fragrance. I am talking about none other than The Body Shop's Japanese Cherry Blossom Puree Body Lotion.
Also did I mention that one fine day a few months ago when I randomly walked into The Body Shop store and found out that there was a sale going on (yes yes I used to be generally oblivious to these things and always missed them.. but that day was my day :P). Now of course I couldn't just let go of this bottle when it was there saying "pick me up Swati. I am on sale"!
What the product says: A lightweight moisturizer that softens, smoothes and hydrates the skin. Leaves skin delicately scented with the decadent Japanese cherry blossom fragrance. Delightful lightweight moisturisation with a pretty cherry blossom scent. Normal Skin.

Ingredients: Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Alcohol Denat. (Solvent/Diluent), Glycerin (Humectant), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Sorbitol (Humectant), Parfum (Fragrance), Carbomer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Olea europaea (Emollient), PPG-15 Stearyl Ether (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Benzophenone-4 (Sunscreen), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Sunscreen), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), t-Butyl Alcohol (Denaturant), Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (Fragrance Ingredient), Prunus serrulata (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydroxycitronellal (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Denatonium Benzoate (Denaturant), CI 17200 (Colour), CI 19140 (Colour)

Packaging: The lotion comes in a clear pink tinted plastic bottle with a black pump dispenser on top, which can be locked, making the bottle very travel friendly. The bottle is sleek with a pretty pink wrap and cherry blossom floral design in the front. It looks very pretty!

The lotion is thin, almost gel like, light baby pink in colour and slightly cooling. A little quantity goes a long way since the lotion spreads nicely and easily. It gets absorbed quickly, the kind that vanishes into your skin leaving no greasy feeling behind at all. It's like you have applied nothing but your skin is hydrated nicely Yes, it will not give you supple skin during the harsh winter months, but this is perfect for summer and these humid monsoon days!

The BEST part? THE FRAGRANCE! One sniff is enough to enchant you. On regular, not so special days, you wouldn't even need that spritz of perfume because the fragrance stays for quite sometime. Its a light fresh spring time fragrance, mostly floral with just a hint of fruity notes and some musky undertones. Not overly sweet, I find it nicely balanced. But yes, if you are hesitant about floral smells then do sniff this in the store before buying.
but

Pros:
  • Great packaging, pretty and  travel friendly.
  • The oh-so-ah-may-zing smell!!!!
  • The freshness and the light consistency which gets absorbed so quickly.
  • Not tested on animals.
Cons:
  • Expensive than your regular body lotions (I use it on the days I want to feel pampered :P)
  • Not suited for the very dry skinned women (but it does mention for normal skin type on the bottle, so can't really take away points for that).
Price: Rs. 830/- for 250ml

Will I repurchase it?
Yes totally! But only if it is on sale.
I want to give the other fragrances a try too, so the next time I want this, I will surely check if my nose sniffs out something better :)
