The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom EDT : Review

Written by: Swati on:

Every girl should have one good perfume, and if you are lucky then many many more ;) Keeping that in mind I firmly decided to get myself atleast one back in 4th year of college (yes, I did not own a single perfume before that..shame). Since I was new to the perfume department, I was not very eager to buy the luxury expensive ones and I headed to The Body Shop just to check out their range. I tried most of them, narrowed it down to two and then got so confused. They both smelt great and I just couldn't choose! The funny story is that I kept walking around their store for over an hour, sniffing my wrists every 10 mintues like a dog.. even the SA was grinning. *headbang* Ultimately, I bought them both...well, what can a girl do?! :P
Now that you all have grinned too, lets start talking about the Japanese Cherry Blossom EDT.

Here is the breakdown of the fragnance -
Top notes : Fuji apple, Chinese magolia and Osmanthus flower
Heart notes : Star jasmine, Japanese cherry blossom and Japanese peresimmon
Base notes : Sandalwood, Hinoki wood and fruity musk

Ingredients -
Alcohol Denat. (Solvent/Diluent), Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Parfum (Fragrance), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (Fragrance Ingredient), t-Butyl Alcohol (Denaturant), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydroxycitronellal (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Helianthus annuus (Emollient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Prunus serrulata (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Benzyl Benzoate (Solvent), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Denatonium Benzoate (Denaturant)

I like the bottle a lot. Simple and compact. Nothing fancy. I like the dull matte silver cap (although it is small so be careful not to lose it). The only downside is that the perfume does not come in a box, so I have to be really careful while travelling with it. I wish it had a box.

The fragrance is really fresh and light and very feminine. Though you do get a very sharp alcohol smell at first, but that dies in a few minutes and you get a beautiful burst of fruity fragrance mixed with some floral. It settles into mild floral notes for most of the day with just a hint of  musk undertones. I quite like it!
It is not a strong fragrance at all. Think of it as dainty and subtle floral one. I find it so perfect for day wear and ideal for spring too. I loved it so much that I went ahead and bought the Body Puree (reviewed here) as well to layer it up, since the EDT has poor staying power. 4 hours max is what I get out of it (although I can still detect some fragrance after this but it is very faint. I wish the staying power was better).

Overall, it was a good perfume to begin with for me and I love the mild floral fragrance. The bottle is almost empty now, and I am planning to get the perfume oil next spring (if I do not come across a better frangrance till then) Any suggestions??

P.S They have changed the packaging now, the collection now comes in the Scents of the World range. You can check it out here.

Price : 1395 INR for 50ml (it was lesser earlier when I had got mine...tch)
