Maybelline Eye Studio Vivid and Smooth Liner Olive : Review
Written by: Smriti on:
From time to time, I get bored with using just plain black kohl on my eyes. Especially during the winters because everything is dull and I just need a pop of colour to lift my mood up! Now, I'll have you know that I am absoulutely rubbish at using liquid eyeliners; I can never control the brush and the liquid has a great tendency to go into my eyes aaaaargh!
So that's why I love coloured eye-pencils. They are a real boon for klutzes like me :) Just swipe them on and bam, you've got yourself real fancy eyes! Bingoooo! Let's rock all those parties ladies!
Vivid and Smooth liners by Maybelline are a part of their EyeStudio range, along with the impressive Color Tattoos. (Check out Bad to the Bronze reviewed here, Pomegranate Punk here, and Bold Gold here). I can't find any fault with their name, they actually are quite smooth, and very pigmented, 2 swipes is all you need. The colour holds up well upto 2-3 hours after which the intensity lessens, but it will stay on and on till you remove it with a remover/oil (it stayed on my lower lash line for over 8 hours! After which I had to sleep and took it off). What I'd like to point out here is that the Vivid and Smooth liners show up even on my waterline , but not as pigmented. I don't have very watery eyes so even a sheer wash lasts long enough for my liking.
The finish is a satin pearl, buttery smooth to work with. These pencils set quickly, so any smudging has to be done quickly because they do not budge easily after that.
I like the way they are packaged as well with a clear cap and the coloured band at the tail end. It's easy to pick out the one you want from a bunch even in a hurry.
I do however, prefer a twist-up form over the sharpenable pencil as it leads to product wastage.
Vivid and Smooth Olive is a warm golden based olive that is beautifully lustrous. I see myself getting good use out of this one! The green complements my chocolate eyes well, and can be incorporated into nearly every ethnic look with ease. I reach for Olive very often as the colour is not loud and college-appropriate. The eye swatches are below, so I'll let you be the judge now! :)
