Up today is one of my favourite scrubs ever. The St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub! This has been my HG scrub for over 2 years now and I really really like it.
A bit about my skin type : Oily-Combination, prone to acne, dullness and uneven skintone.
There was a time (as I have mentioned on the blog earlier), I was new to Bangalore and battling a lot of acne...those were scary days :/ Now, thankfully it is all under control and I have found quite a few products that work well for me. This scrub is one of them and I am on my 3rd tube now :)
The product comes in a huge squeezy white plastic tube. The tube is HUGE and will last you a long long looooong time!! The scrub is paraben and phthalate free. Way to go St. Ives!
There are many variants of the St. Ives scrub in the market. I picked up this one mainly because it contains salicylic acid and is oil free, which makes it great for my skin type.
The fragrance isn't too strong and I like it :)
The scrub does it job quite well. I use it once a week (sometimes 2) and it gets rid of the dead skin, buildup and cleans the pores nicely. It also takes care of dry flaky patches and reduces blackheads. (though, blackhead reduction can be achieved if you use any scrub regularly).
It leaves the skin feeling refreshed, soft and quite smooth. It does make my pores look somewhat smaller, but that effect is only temporary. (I hate to admit it, but if I could scrub everyday with this, I would totally do it :D). One of the best part is that after using this, my skin does not feel too oily nor stripped off moisture.
A word of caution though, the granules in the scrub aren't very fine. So, one needs to scrub gently with it, else you face will be left somewhat red. On the plus side, since the granules aren't that fine, it can be used on the body too :)
I cannot really tell you if this alone reduced my breakout issue, since I use a few more products along with it. I am sure they all worked together to bring the problem under control and this scrub must have helped too.
Price : 350 INR for 170g/6oz
Do I recommed it?
Totally! St. Ives makes great scrubs. They have many variants and even if you do not suffer from breakouts, you should give the other ones a try once. Plus the quantity is huge and the tube lasts a long time making the scrub pretty affordable.
I am on the lookout for the green tea variant of this one, since I am on my 3rd tube of the apricot one and I am sort of bored... but this is HG material for me :)
What do you think of St. Ives scrubs? Have you used them before? Which is your favourite one?
Any suggestions for me?
