Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock Spray, SPF 50 : Review

Written by: Swati on:

You hopped onto C & D expecting a new beauty review, and here I am dishing out a sunscreen review smack in the middle of winter. Why, you ask yourself. It could have been a post on the True Match foundation, instead! You hardly get to see the sun most days, and when you do it's behind a screen of heavy fog, so you really don't need to slather on SPF right?

WRONG!

Basic rule #1 : Never, ever, skip your SPF. Not if you have any attachment to your skin!

But basically, this product just didn't work for me in summers, and I was waiting for the perfect moment to share it with you all :P

I had originally purchased it with the intention of keeping it in my bag for reapplication purposes. That turned out to be a total fiasco, so this bottle was just collecting dust in my cupboard. I couldn't bear to throw it away just like that! Sometimes you have to battle to make a product work for you.

I stuck to my Matte Look sunscreen from Lotus during the summers (Swati introduced me to it, thank god!) and waited patiently for the colder months to set in to bring this baby out of hiding :)

That's all the details for you from the back of the bottle. Now for the harsh truth..

It's not a fine mist spray at all! One pump and you end up with a liquidy blob with a nice 'phsichhh' to accompany it.

Plus, the non greasy claim also didn't hold true for me. There was an incident when I had applied it on my face with high hopes and the end result was a garbled aaaaarrrgh! Not nice, I tell you..

In winter however, I am enjoying using this sunscreen. The greasiness that I experienced in the hot months is under control, and feels mildly moisturising.

The lotion is runny and opaque white in colour. It has a herbal smell, but doesn't stay for long. Also, I was afraid of it leaving a horrid white cast, but thankfully is doesn't. It settles into the skin just fine, and does its job properly. SPF 50 is not less!

Don't get scared! :D It doesn't look that white when blended in, I promise!

Now the thing is, I don't know if I will recommend it or not. For summers, I will advise against it, but you may try it out in the winters. Although there are better products in the market, so I can't really give you a reason to pick this one :/

Price : 315 INR for 80ml

Have you tried out this sunscreen spray? How did you make it work for you?
