Hey hey :)
I hope you've all had a fantastic New Year!
Starting off 2015 with a not-so-new, but tried-and-tested-for-months product, I'd like to share this find today. My skin woes are not news to anybody, and I've been running from pillar to post trying to fish out products that would pump the life back into my skin :( If anybody has any recommendations to combat dullness, tan, and all that follows, please share in the comments below!
But let's talk about this essence first.
What drew me to this essence was it's claims of lessening pigmentation and uneven skin tone. I have discolourations around my mouth and nose that's only getting worse with sun exposure. L'Oreal says it
"evens the skin tone, moisturizes and brightens it, and also protects from UV-A and UV-B rays."
That's the ingredient list for you to see. It's quite a mouthful in my opinion, and parabens are present in this concoction. Umm...yeah..but I willfully overlooked that :/
The product comes in a metallic blue bottle with a pump dispenser. The finish of the bottle is not very classy, and the pump is prone to chipping. Other than that, it does the job decently, and the bottle does not leak so you can travel with this. The dispenser, however, does not have a locking mechanism. I would have liked to see a rotatable lock but oh well..
Below is the quantity a single pump dispenses. I found it enough to cover my entire face and half of the neck area easily. The texture is light and slightly runny, and sinks well into the skin. It's fragrance reminds me of baby creams (weird, I know) but it does not linger long, so that's okay.
The product needs only a few strokes to get absorbed, and you can apply a light moisturiser on top of it with ease. Sometimes, on humid days, I totally skipped the moisturiser as I felt the essence was enough. Although here I'd like to say that during summers, I no longer have dry skin.
And now to the final verdict, does it work?
Yes it does, but the results are not miraculous. I used one bottle for a couple of months alone, and I did notice my skin looking clearer and slightly bright. The effect on open pores was slightly visible. The pigmentation had reduced a little, but I had higher expectations from this product, so I wasn't the most thrilled.
There are a couple of factors that may have lessened the efficacy of the product.
- I didn't use it in conjunction with the White Perfect Laser Day Cream as suggested by the company. I did use my Lotus sunscreen though.
- I am exposed to sun, wind and dust on a daily basis and all the harshness maybe retarding, if not neutralizing the effects of the essence.
I haven't repurchased the White Perfect Laser Essence. I moved on to another serum which I will be reviewing soon and which I have repurchased, so clearly you know my pick! :)
