Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer : Review

Written by: Swati on:

Over the next few days I am going to talk about concealers. Everyone needs a good one in their kit.
To find the perfect concealer to suit my needs...I bought, tested and moved on from one to another and it has been quite an enlightening journey.

I won't bother you with a lot of them. So, I have narrowed it down to the current 3 I have in my stash and let's begin with the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

I bought this after reading quite good reviews everywhere. And even though this one is pretty famous with most people, it is my least favourite one.

It comes in 3 shades (if I am not wrong), I have the shade Honey. The concealer comes in a pen type packaging with a brush applicator which honestly I am not too fond of. You can dispense the product by twisting the bottom end. The product doesn't get come out instantly when the bottom is twisted so there is wastage.

This one is a highlighting concealer which you need to keep in mind before buying this. Which means you can use it for your eye area, but it is definitely not meant to cover up blemishes/ acne / redness/bumps at all.

The texture is thick and creamy. Medium coverage and slight brightening effect. It blends averagely. I do find it settling into the lines and cakeing up. It emphasizes the under eye dryness, so I would suggest hydrating prior with a good under eye cream.
I cannot of course use this on my blemishes and other scars, since this is highlighting in nature and just emphasizes them more.
It have the darkest shade, Honey from this range and it looks quite ashy on me (maybe I need to use a color corrector before this). Does any one else face this problem? I wish more shades were available since darker skintones won't find a match.

So this one did not really help me with concealing. And it certainly does not suit my under eye area. I did not like the texture/formula too (maybe I got am off piece?) and even the darkest shade looks quite ghostly on me!
So, how do I use it?
Well, it works well to highlight the cheekbones, under the eyebrows, chin and bridge of the nose. It looks very natural and fit for everyday use. Though, I am not repurchasing this.

Price: 500INR

I would defintely advise you to try these out (under your eye, not on your hand!) at the counter before buying one. If you are on the lookout for a highlighting concealer, and if you find a match in this then you will probably like it. However, if you are looking for a concealer to cover blemishes and spots, then skip this one!
