Many of you have been asking about my skincare routine and since summer is already driving us mad, I thought of doing a post of my Skincare Essentials for Summer. Of course, some of these products are a regular part of my skincare routine throughout the year. But these are my top picks for summer. Read on!
Of course, a good face cleanser/face wash is important. Choose one which removes oil and dirt effectively, without over drying the skin. Cleansers that give a stretched feeling post wash is a strict no-no for me. I forgot to inlcude it in the picture here, but I am loving the Kaya Purifying Cleasnser (for over 2 months now).
You need to agood toner to close those pores up. I use one morning and evening post washing my face. I have been alternating between Serozinc and Rose water lately. Serozinc is super effective in keepign breakouts away and rose water is an age old effective toner, plus also provides some hydration. You can also use thermal sprays.
A step a lot of us miss out on these days due to the heat. But it is an essential step. So look out for a light moisturizer depending on your skin type. I highly recommend, the good old Lacto Calamine for oily-combination skin, it is such an underrated product!
I do not need to tell you again how important using a suncreen is. Make sure you use it everyday before stepping out and reapply every 3-4 hours. The 3-in-1 matte daily sunblock by Lotus Herbals has been my HG sunscreen for years now! You do not need to pick this one, use whichever one you prefer. Just make sure it has UVA and UVB protection.
Night time calls for something more effective so that it can boost skin repair. While thicker night creams are more suited for the colder season, light serums are what I go for in the summer. The Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution is love! It sinks in minutes and does not feel oily/heavy at all. (will review it soon!).
6. Lip Balm
Make sure you use a good one, with SPF.
7. Body Wash
There is nothing better than coming back after a days of work and jumping in the shower! You know how sweaty we get during the summer which can lead to a lot of problems like body acne, so chuck the fancy ones, and pick up something that helps maintian body pH. I am currently using the Sebamed Face and Body Wash and it is quite effective!
8. Face Mask
While there is nothing better than a natural homemade mask, once a week I like using a deep cleaning clay based mask to get rid of all the trapped gunk in the pores. Clay masks are also super benefincial for oily-combination skins. Currently I am using the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask (full thoughts here). If you have combination-dry skin, multimask!! Use the clay mask only in the problem areas (like the T zone) and a more hydrating one in the other regions.
