Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer, Stellar : Review

Written by: Smriti on:

When it comes to lips, I usually never stray from nudes.

It's not just the profession's demand, but also a matter of convenience. Having a few different toned MLBB shades in my collection makes it easy to pull together any look, no worries!

However, every now and then I like to do a complete U turn and sport a bright lip, be it a special occasion or just to run an errand! It's good to shake thing up, right?

And that's when beauties like Stellar take the limelight. And with that crazy pigmentation, and even crazier neon tinge, it's hard to keep Stellar away from attention... believe me.

It's the end of color as you know it! The intense rich color of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. It's neither a lipstick nor a gloss. It's BIGGER than both!
LONG LIVE THE COLOR!
Combines the color of a lipstick and the lacquer shine of a lip gloss. The creamy conditioning formula features pure color pigments, leaving lips vibrant and glossy.

I like the packaging of this product. It's spill-proof and very sturdy. The faceted design feels fresh amongst the other plain glosses. The applicator has a long wand with a doe foot sponge at the end. The product retaining cup in it's centre is a unique feature that ensures I do not need to dip the wand into the tube again and again to pick up more product.

The formula is extremely smooth, it glides onto the lips like melted butter! Pigmentation, true to its claim, is out of the world! Stellar goes on opaque in one swipe. I have never felt the need to layer it up as even a thin coat packs a real punch! It lasts for 6 hours on me, is not transfer-proof, but fades with a tint so I'm not left with 'naked lips'. In terms of moisturization, even though the formula is buttery, it does not provide any nourishment to my lips but doesn't dry them out either.

The shade Stellar is officially recommended for Olive skin tones, so is well suited to Indian skin. However, the slight neon look it gives might not be everybody's cup of tea! So choose wisely as Stellar is not a shade you can pat down or sheer out to make it more subtle.

As you can see in the swatch below, Stellar is a bright orange-coral. It actually shifts in undertone according to the light, appearing pink in some, orange in others, and reddish in a few, but always with an unmistakable neon edge. Hence, it's a very youthful shade, fun and vibrant.

The only con for this range is the awful artificial smell. I'm usually not picky about scented lip products, but Apocalips makes me want to keep it far faaaaaar away from my nose. It's plasticky and so horrendous that if you have a sensitive nose, I can see your tube being tossed into the bin straight away! Mind you, it does not stink... just smells synthetic and slightly stifling.

Thankfully, it dissipates quickly, so my nose can breathe the sweet air again!

Here are the lip swatches, do leave a comment if you like them 😊
