Hello everyone! I am back with another shampoo review today - the Marrakesh Nourish Shampoo Original variant. I gave it a go a few months back and it featured in my July 2021 empties here

I take complete advantage of the fact that my hair isn't too problematic *touchwood* and like to try out new hair care products from time to time. For a long time now my regular shampoo has been the Herbal Essence Argan Oil one (reviewed here). I was a little bored of it and wanted to try out something different. And that's how I picked up the Marrakesh Nourish Shampoo.

What the brand says?

It comes in a sleek black plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The bottle can be squeezed slightly which makes it easy to dispense the product.

The translucent white, slightly runny shampoo has a super strong fragrance - predominantly sweet (with hints of argan oil?). It's not my favourite smelling shampoo. But the scent doesn't last long post wash so I made do with it. It could be strong for sensitive noses.

Coming to the efficacy, it cleans my scalp and hair well. Like other shampoos, I do need two rounds when I have oiled my hair. The shampoo doesn't foam much, I guess because it is sulphate free, and I needed to use more product to clean my hair to the degree I like. So, even though the quantity is 207ml (what an odd quantity, no? make it 200 or 250?) I finished the bottle pretty quickly which was a bummer.

My hair didn't feel stripped or dry afterwards but didn't feel as smooth and shiny as I like either. Since the usual budget shampoos I use contain silicone, they leave a smoother shinier finish which I prefer - my hair is fine and I feel that silicones help provide the slip needed to keep it tangle free. Of course, when I followed up this shampoo with a hair mask or conditioner, it was better.

Price: 995 INR for 207ml ( available here )

Now here's the thing, at this price point the shampoo did not wow me. Was it bad? No. Did it do anything extraordinary for my hair? No. I don't expect a shampoo to do much anyway - it should just clean my hair well and not aggravate hair fall. And this checked both the boxes. But so does my regular shampoo which is priced much lower. Please note that I do not mind sulphates or silicones in my haircare products. So, I will not be repurchasing this shampoo.

However, if you are particularly looking out for a sulphate-free & silicone-free shampoo (we don't have a lot of those options in India yet), and are okay with the price, then you can try this out. It does what a shampoo needs to do and I didn't experience any adverse effects with it.

xoxo,
Swati
