I've had oily skin till my mid 20s & I can completely understand the struggles associated with it - not wanting to use a moisturizer or any thing on the face for that matter, feeling so oily that it makes you want to wash your face several times a day. I was there, I felt this too. And for the longest time I did not use anything on my face, even if I tried to, I wanted to wash it off in 5 minutes.

But this was back in the early 2000s when there was a lack of skincare products in the Indian market and we only had a few things to choose from. With time the Indian beauty market got more products and I slowly started to discover things I could use. In the present time, we have so many options, there is something for everyone. Which is so good!

So here's a simple skincare routine for oily skin which has worked well for me in the past.

I had shared a short video of this on our Instagram page a while back, check it out if you can.

If you are a regular reader of the blog and if you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that I have perioral dermatitis which is unfortunate because as a beauty enthusiast it narrows down the lip products (lipsticks/gloss/balms) I am able to use drastically. A lot of formulas out in the market tend to aggravate and flare up my condition in 1 application. This makes me very picky when it comes to lip products and also very apprehensive whenever I am trying out something new. It also means that whenever I find a product that doesn't worsen the condition for me I dance with joy! Let's talk about the End Pucker Hydrating Lip Mask today.

While I love my science-y skincare products, I also love going back to age old Indian Ayurveda and using our potent herbs and ingredients. When used wisely, patiently and consistently, these ingredients offer a ton on benefits.
They also offer 2 main advantages :
a. They are readily available locally
b. You can combine them to suit your skin type and needs.

I have already spoken about some skincare habits and products which can be included to help reduce breakouts in the previous post - Read PART I here

Here are some amazing natural ingredients which are found easily in India & can be used to reduce pimples & breakouts, calm and soothe the skin along with many other benefits. Read on!

Being a beauty enthusiast, I try a fair shade of products. However, I am very particular about what I buy & impulse buys for me have become very rare over the years. But even though I do a lot of research before getting anything, every now and then an odd product doesn't work well for me or doesn't perform to my expectation. That's just how products work - all of us are slightly different and we might have different needs and skin requirements. So here is another list of products that did not work for me.

You can read Part I of the post HERE. Let me know if you like these posts, because I sure like sharing them. Maybe we can make it a bi-yearly thing?

Disclaimer - While these products somehow did not work out for me, they might work/or might have worked for you. This in just my personal view.

With that being said, let me share my list.

If you have been following us for a while, you probably know by now how much we both love well hydrated skin (my appreciation for it has grown over the years because of Smriti). You might also be aware that since 2019 end I have been into Korean skincare, the love for which is growing steadily with time. The Klairs Midnight Calming Cream has reached Holy Grail status for me & I wanted to explore more from the brand.

The Fundamental Watery Oil Drop caught my fancy quickly & I absolutely fell in love with the texture when I tried it for the first few times. It had an honorary mention in my 2020 Skincare Favourites HERE. Now that I have been using it for a few months, let me share my thoughts & experience with you. Read on!

Is there any such thing as having too many lip balms? Just kidding, there can actually be such a thing, so do not overbuy. But let's be a little bit realistic, most of us have a couple of balms at least open & around the house - one in your handbag, one in the car, one on bed stand perhaps? Or if you are a little bit extra like me, then one in the kitchen and one tucked away in the crevices of the couch.

I picked up the Juicy Chemistry Blood Orange & Rosehip Lip Balm on a whim because I wanted to try out the brand and a lip balm seemed like a low risk product. Also, I really like the Forest Essentials Sweet Narangi Lip Balm and I thought that this could be similar at a much affordable price. Here are my thoughts ...

The first chemical exfoliant I used was salicylic acid 7 years ago and after using it for many years in a wash off form I wanted to step it up and use a leave on BHA since my skin is now accustomed to it.

While on the hunt for a leave on salicylic acid treatment, I came across the Suganda BHA Exfoliating Serum. The brand had rave reviews in the Indian skincare community and I thought of give this serum a go along with their White Lotus Moisturizer - which is reviewed HERE.
I used this BHA for a little over 2 months and here are my thoughts :

I am a huge face masks lover, I always have been. A face mask was the only consistent thing I was doing in terms of skincare during in my school time :D I find using a face mask quite relaxing, whether I put one on & carry on with my work or when I take 10-15 minutes off and just unwind. I think that they are a great way to boost things up while taking sometime out for self care. I also like using homemade masks as often as I can, but sometimes it is difficult to make one at home & that's why I like to keep some pre made masks in my skincare stash too. Some masks have become a staple over time, I do like trying out new ones once in a while.

The Kama Ayurveda Nimrah Face Mask - reviewed HERE had been a favourite of mine for many years so when the brand launched the Suvarna Haldi Chandan Brightening Face Mask, I wanted to try it out.
