Nykaa Haul 2017, Nykaa beauty Haul, Nykaa makeup Haul, huge Nykaa Haul

I usually don't have many haul posts to share with you guys. One of the main reasons is that I rarely buy many things at once. When I usually have a product in mind, I think over it a lot before purchasing it. So impulsive shopping these days is pretty rare. The last time I did that was probably a year ago and I did share the haul then (you can check it out here). The second reason was that I was on a makeup ban for quite a while. I felt I had enough and that I might as well use the stuff I had first.
Naturally the list for trying out stuff was building and I eventually gave in and did a small haul from Nykaa. I haven't used these products enough to form a true opinion about them yet, but I will give you a brief first impressions. Let's see what I got!

Festive Makeup Essentials, Christmas Makeup Essentials, New Year Makeup Essentials

My makeup routine stays pretty much consistent all the year round. Each of us has a go to look right? I usually go for kajal and neutral shade most days. But come december and I find myself getting drawn to the festive colors more and more! Red and Glitter...I think that pretty much sums it up :D
So here are my top picks for 2017... I reached for these on Christmas Day and will surely be going for them till the end of the month or maybe till mid Jan even! Take a look :)

I have never had a massage done, probably due to my leanings towards the stoic philosophy, or how you’re just supposed to grit your teeth and get on with it. Back aches, not a problem, grit your teeth and get on with it. Leg aches, not a problem, grit your teeth and get on with it. Headaches, not a problem, you get the picture by now. So, I honestly decided to turn down the spa offer that came my way this weekend! There you go, blog over, get back to your Lacto Calamine now.

No wait, things are rarely that simple here in Curios and Dreams land. Swati soon somehow managed to convince me to give it a shot (by persistently nagging me, as most women tend to do in order to achieve anything).

Collaborated post with IshtyleAwhile

I am a stationery addict. Not that I over splurge... But I can and will easily spend a hour or so in a shop that stocks stationery. I might not end up buying every time (I do make an effort to resist temptation) buy I love browsing through and picking up somethings every once in a while. The end result? A lot of cute notebooks/diaries....which I do not end up using (coz let's admit it, they are too pretty to use!).

Sometimes when I do use them, the pages filled in are completely random. To do lists, blog lists, study notes...all jumbled up. I came across the concept of Bullet Journalling about a year and half ago (thanks to all the YouTubers I follow). The process though being extremely interesting, looked too much of an effort to follow through. So even though I loved watching the set-ups of different people, I never gave in to trying it out myself.

Starting My Bullet Journal, Bullet journal, bullet journal india, bullet journal tips

Until, I chanced upon Lily Pebbles video which finally inspired me to try Bullet Jounalling out. I started it in Feb 2017 (a month late I know..but better late than never). Her very basic layout finally made me believe that I could do this as well (you will see that my layout is very much inspired by hers. I didn't want to take too many new chances you see).

Anyway, that is a super long intro! Phew! Take a look at my Bullet Journal 2017 along with a few tips and tricks to help you do this smoothly! ☺

When Swati bought me the iconic Mary Lou-Manizer from Divya's blog sale (she blogs at The Conscience Fund, do visit it, the writing and wit will capture you!) I knew it was time to invest in a good fan brush. Nearly all the brushes I own are from Real Techniques so naturally, I was perusing their collection when my eye landed on this sculpting set that was just calling my name!

Even though I already owned their famous setting brush, and this set also contains it, I decided to purchase it because #1 Two new brushes, including an exclusive fan brush and #2 backups, hello?!
You can buy Real Techniques brushes online HERE.

I am a matte and nude lipstick lover, as is quite evident on the blog. When I get dolled up to go out, I'd rather keep the attention on my eyes rather than my lips, and that has led me to build up an army of nude lippies with different undertones to complement any look!

The first NYX soft matte lip cream I tried was Abu Dhabi (a PR sample, and much adored) and I was awed by its mousse like texture, its pigmentation and staying power. It took me a while, but I finally added two more shades to build up the perfect trio of the range - a nude (Abu Dhabi), a sophisticated colour (Cannes), and a glamorous red (Copenhagen).

Let's talk about Cannes today!

Ever since I have started watching YouTube videos, I have remembered one thing distinctly this time of the year, common to all I follow there.... it makes me dream about them constantly, silently hope each time that this will be the year they finally come to India...even wish that I leave the country and settle in the UK somewhere :D

I am talking about ADVENT CALENDARS! Yes you heard me right...I have spent many Christmases drooling over them and praying desperately to angels above to give me the magical power or teleportation if they cannot bring them here. I love beauty and lifestyle advent calendars.
No, I haven't had any experiences with them so far, but I just know that I LOVE them!

Every year I manage to lust over most of them, spend hours looking at unboxing videos and have an expression of a salivating dog throughout. How I wish these come to India someday...soon. I accept that Christmas isn't a huge in our country, but hey we still like celebrating it. Or perhaps, the brands can do one for Diwali? ;)

Anyway, I will stop rambling and just share on which ones I lust for - the ones that have been consistent every year in my wishlist. Take a look!

Good morning everyone! How is Friday going for you? It's super dreary here in Bangalore today and all I want to do is curl up in a cozy blanket with a hot cuppa! And of course put on some lovely mellow songs...wouldn't that be just lovely? Instead I am at work..but I have my coffee and music on!

Now, generally I do not do gadget reviews myself, but if I am loving something so much, I have gotta tell you all! So let me introduce you to the Artis BH400M headphones, which is my newest love! ❤

I do not remember the last time I used a deodorant spray. For about 2 years now, I have shifted to roll ons. I somehow find them more gentle on the delicate underarm area. Plus roll ons are more discreet and travel friendly.

Sure roll on was my absolute favourite for the longest time (full review here), but then I have stopped seeing them in the market now. I believe Rexona has taken it over..correct me if I am wrong. While that wasn't a big deal for me as a consumer, the problem is that if you look at the new Rexona packaging now, you will find Alcohol in the ingredient list - which completely negates the purpose of me buying Sure - It was alcohol-free earlier.

My skincare routine has been failry simple since a long time now. I have been cleansing and toning twice a day and I follow up with Lacto Calamine in the morning as my moisturizer and a facial oil at night.
Since the past couple of months though, I have been wanting to incorporate a serum too. Blame the dry Bangalore weather or the aging process, but lots of days, my skin feels dehyrated or dull in the morning and I know it needs an extra surge of moisture.
I was more inclined to get the Face Shop Chia Seed serum initially, but then that went out of stock the day I decided to get a serum...and since I had already made up my mind that I needed one that very day, I went ahead and ordered the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum (which had a lot of good reviews too).

We at C&D are quite fond of colored eyeliners. Sure, black does look good on us Indian girls all the time, but somedays we just want to add a hint of color!
I never miss a chance to add a different color to my stash (which by now has many!) so when Smriti raved about the LA Girl Gel Liners, I had to give them a try too!

If you follow us on Instagram, you would know by now that both Smriti and me have become sheet mask addicts! (Follow us on Instagram here...shameless promotion!)
The sheet mask craze has hit India brilliantly and I think everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now. Between Innissfree,The Face Shop and Dear Packer, you have a hundred choices! Plus, it doesn't hurt that Nykaa mostly has them on some offer many times
These sheet masks are usually available in a natural version and a lab solution varaint and we have tried them all!

Each mask from The Solution variants from The Face Shop focuses on a certain vitamin or chemical with targeted properties. Sharing my first impressions today!

For all our readers who’ve been with us from the beginning, I’m happy to share with you that my UG course is coming to an end, just a few months to go before I can call myself a Doc! (Fingers crossed…)

Exam time is always stressful, and little things like caring for myself definitely take a back seat in the light of all the studies, but I try to do my best. And that’s why I love hassle-free products, ones that can get the job done in a jiffy and leave me feeling like a goddess! An over-worked, sleep-deprived, half-starving goddess, but effortlessly glam.

Effortless being the key word here.

May I introduce the new Pantene Oil Replacement to all you beauties? This one’s a keeper!

How many times have you wandered across the beauty aisles and picked up nailpolish colors randomly, just because it looked pretty in the moment? I am guilty of doing this so many times now that I have lost count.  The problem is when you come back home and find out that you have a very similar looking shade already...Now that is annoying!
You don't need a gazillion polishes in life (of course having them wouldn't hurt, but let's be a bit practical).

There was a time when most of my polishes were different variants of nudes and neutrals. It is the category I gravitate towards the most. But then what is the point of have 10 nude shades? Over the past few months, my collection has grown and has more diversity (hence the post).

If you have been following C&D for a while, you would know by now that I have absolutely given up on waxing as a means for hair removal.
For the past couple of years I have just stuck to 2 ways - Epilating and Shaving (the latter being used more frequently due to lack of time and general laziness).

So while I love the standard Gillette Venus razor a lot, and also enjoyed the Venus Breeze (I have spoken about on our Instagram page), when it comes to being on the move, neither of those are quite travel friendly. The Venus Snap (available here) was something I had seen many YouTubers talk about, and after a long long period of contemplation I finally went ahead on got it!
Why the long time deciding? Coz this baby is not available in India...yet and I had to pay a ridiculous amount on Amazon for a razor! (I still feel guilty about it!). But it is so worth it.

When it comes to eyeshadows, I am a neurtals person through and through. Yes, colors do look nice but I love sticking to my brows, beiges, bronzy shades.
Of course one of my most used palettes is the Maybelline Nudes, but I was on the lookout for something even more compact. Then The Face Shop launched their Triple Eyes palettes on Nykaa and I ordered it in a blink! Take a look :)

I always expected college life to be a phase where you can experiment, clothing..looks.. personality, everything.. and then I arrived at an institution which demands a formal and conservative approach to all of the above.

Most days, it's easy to adhere to; I understand the requirements of the profession, but on some days when my inner rebel decides to raise an eyebrow, I pull out my stash of coloured eye pencils!

Oh eye pencils, how I love theeeeeeeee... I adore my EyeStudio ones by Maybelline and these babies are the newest addition to my collection!

Bright, healthy skin is something we all strive for. No amount of makeup can replace a natural glow of skin that is nourished and well cared for.

With the harsh environment, I face every day (blinding sun, scorching heat, high humidity, long hours in AC rooms...) I've seen my skin bear the brunt of it. For a long time, I struggled to find products that would do something to breathe life back into it, and I'm glad I chanced upon this face mask!

Even though it's a recent addition (only a month since I purchased it), its benefits are evident, so dedicating a post to it was only a matter of time 😊

We at Curios & Dreams are ardent worshippers of lip balms. If you raid our purses/homes at any point of time, you'll be sure to find atleast 10 lying around, all being used at the same time!

From basics like Nivea and Maybelline, to holistic like Matra and Island Kiss, to luxury balms from The Body Shop and Forest Essentials, we've tried them all, and loved each for various reasons. Today, we've got the Sweet Narangi Juice luscious lip balm from FE in the spotlight!
While it may dent your pocket, it'll pamper your lips like nothing else 😉

With July being a month of back to back exams for me, my hairfall issue had reached a dreadful level! And do not even get me started on dandruff issues. I was scared to wash my hair, comb my hair..in general do anything with it. Every action left large balls of hair in my palm. Now neither did I have time to fix the solution (every minute of studying counts during exam right), nor am I too enthusiastic when to comes to regular haircare by myself.

Among all the beauty and fashion related posts, somehow the important things get pushed behind. I wanted to do a hygiene related post for a long time...better late than never! Considering our country, where a lot of things are hushed up, a lot of mothers might have never had the talk with their daughters about maintaining things where they ought to be maintained. I keep wondering why women do not talk more about these things! There are many things we can learn from each other...right?
Discussed below are a some pointers and a few products that I personally like using. Read on!

I am a big fan of chubby sticks, they are so easy to carry around, so easy to apply and in general look super cute.
So, a while back I picked up the L'Oreal Glam Shine Blam Gloss in Peach Pleasure (after seeing some pretty swatches online...yeah I got tempted!). And while this is a pretty colour, I somehow do not reach for it as often as I should. Read on to know why.

Because why should we stick to only black eyeliners?

I cannot help but incorporate some fun bright colours into makeup when summer and monsoons are around, Blues, greens, bright purples they are so perfect to be sported this time of the year, don't you think so?

This season, I surprisingly found myself using coloured liners (usually I stick to coloured pencils on my lower lash line, if you were wondering).
While I will talk about the other one in a few days, the NYX Vivid Brights in Vivid Envy is what we will be discussing today.

July was a super hectic month for me. If you have been following us here or on Instagram you would know that I had exams and it was one of the toughest things I have ever had to do.
Since I was quite busy with the exams I did not have the time to try out many new things. I have combined some of my June favourites with a few of the things I liked in July as well into one post Take a look :)

Hello all!
After being a bit absent all July, I am finally done with exams and now can truly focus on the blog (which is all I have ever wanted to do ever since this baby started). I am brainstorming on newer posts and hopefully you will see a lot more content henceforth!

On that note, here's introducing "Style Edit" where I will be talking about my recent fashion favourites...you know the stuff I keep reaching out too most over the past weeks, the things in my closet that have been getting lots of love lately (old or new).
I hope it inspires you all and that you like this new series!  ðŸ˜„

Hello everyone!

Half my makeup collection is dominated by Makeup Revolution, the other half by Maybelline. Two real budget-friendly brands with a plethora of products to choose from and no compromise on quality!

When I didn't own any baked powders, I never understood the hype, but now I have. Baked powders give you more pigmentation and minimal fallout, and a more aesthetically pleasing product too. I wish I could say that the pigmentation pulls me in, but honestly, it's the prettiness 😃

Ever since Swati did her 30 Random Facts, she has been pestering me to do the same. Not only is it fun, she said, it also gives our community a glimpse into the person we really are.

And they break the monotony of the blog too.

So here I am, penning down the little quirks that make me, me. I haven't decided on a particular number that I want to share so make sure you click on that 'Read more' button to find out how far I went!

Hello! I got a new compact powder after quite a while. It's the Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder .... Phew! That is quite a long name for one product!
But, if the product is mind-blowingly fabulous, I really will not complain about how long the name is. They can add 10 more words in there, for all I care!

Hello everybody, it's time for the second edition of this series!

The last time, I emphasized the importance of understanding what your skin is trying to tell you. (Read more here) That includes keeping an eye out for subtle changes, and adjusting your skincare to balance it. Now that the foundation is laid, let's move on to the next step.

Facial oils are quite the rage lately, but how do you choose the perfect one for you skin? We've got you covered, no worries :)

As a dry skin queen, I know and love my scrubs. Each time I scrub my skin clean, I fall a little more in love with how smooth it feels! I'm a firm believer in the power of exfoliants to not only make my skin healthy, but also help my skin care products work a bit better.

If you've been with C&D for long, you'll know I stick to a weekly exfoliation routine, head to toe. It's an integral part of my weekend pamper sessions, so I'm always on the lookout for high quality and (preferably) organic scrubs to use.

I think most of you will recall seeing Gravitale on Purplle quite a while ago. The product then was marketed as a grape scrub and it sounded promising, so I bought a jar of it. Therefore, even though we were sent a PR sample at its recent relaunch, this review is going to encompass the experience of 3 women who've been using it since ages ☺

First of all, thank you so much for liking my very first outfit post! Your appreciation really means a lot and well, it has encouraged me to finally do some more of them!

Here's the 2nd one. This is special because (a) I have wanted to add a loose trouser type thing in my wardrobe for so long and I finally found the perfect pair (b) Ashish made me throw on a waistcoat, which I normally would never have, and I ended up liking it a lot!

Even though brown eyes are considered to be quite versatile, I always end up in a dilemma regarding what eyeshadows to put on my lids. With Makeup Revolution's Iconic 1 and Iconic 3, and Iconic Pro 1 (the newest hero in my collection), I consider myself the queen of neutrals.

Even then I wasn't satisfied. While on the hunt for something to quench my thirst I stumbled upon this gem, and the fact that it was so budget-friendly led me to buy it in 2 minutes flat!

When it comes to hair, we all have different types and different issues, which is why I do not recommend many hair products often. What suits me, might not really work for you.
But since a lot of you have been requesting this one, here are the products I am currently using for my hair.

I do put in a new product every now and then to test/try out, but these are the ones that have been working really well for me and have become a permanent part of my stash.

I have wanted an instant brush cleanser for the longest time. I mean, how awesome would it be to be doing your makeup, clean your brush in a jiffy and use the same brush again in that very moment? It also meant that I would not require like 10 eye brushes, I could do with just 2 or 3.

For a long time, the only one available was by MAC and I wasn't ready to spend a bomb on that one. But I found this one by PAC recently and it was all that I could have ever wanted, within a reasonable price!

Back in my teenage days, when women were threading their eyebrows as thin as death, my mother never let me thread them at all. On top of that I used to apply castor oil on them every now and then. End result? I had thick dark brows. And while I desperately wanted them to be threaded and shaped like everyone else was doing, I am so thankful that I was not allowed to!!

Bold natural brows are back in trend and how! And they are here to stay.
There is nothing better than a woman with thick full eyebrows, so girls, keep those tweezers down!

Curios and Dreams has been up and running for over 4 years now, and yet we had not done any OOTDs so far. Why so?
Well, firstly because Smriti and I stay in different cities, away from home. You can see how getting photos clicked would be an issue.
Secondly, I am a huge camera phobic!! I love clicking photos and could do it all day. But put me in front of a camera and I get extremely uncomfortable, give weird expressions and in general just want to run far far away!
So much for OOTDs! *sigh*

Anyway, I was finally made to try palazzos a while back (I was convinced I wouldn't look good in them...short girl problems!).So here I am!

This is my 1st outfit post, so naturally I am quite nervous about your thoughts. Be kind, ok? :)

Somehow, most things I tend to like get discontinued! Are you one of those as well?
Imagine the frustration, when you come across a perfect color, one you would repurchase again and again only to know that the one you have will probably be the last one.

This is how it is with the L’Oreal Paris Collection Star Pink Vernis collection, especially the Sonam Kapoor variant! I think the collection has been discontinued (correct me if I am wrong) and it is out of stock online almost everywhere! Sigh

I purchased a bottle of this, my mother liked the color so much that I asked her to keep it. Shortly afterwards, I realised that I needed it in my life, and went on such a hunt to get it!
You have no idea how happy I am to have found it ( I think I managed to get hold of it from Amazon at last).

I had never heard of Cargo Cosmetics before, and Divya from The Conscience Fund was the sweetest ever and threw this in along with our other purchases from her blog sale.

The fact that I have reached for this blush almost ever since I have got it, is proof enough of how much I am loving it already!
