This is Part 2 of the tag I got from Supria of Sushy Loves Blush. (You can read Part 1 HERE which talks about best makeup produts I tried in 2013). Time to share skincare now! Finding out your most amazing finds of this year is such an interesting thing to do. You reflect on all the products used and it is quite confusing picking out just two products when you have good experiences with quite a few more. But if I had to pick put just two from my stash they have got to be :
What are your plans for the day?
Wishing you all a magical and delightful Christmas filled with joy and laughter! Have a great day! (I better go sleep..I don't want looking like a zombie tomorrow :D)
Lots of love!
I was tagged a few days back by the gorgeous Supria of Sushy Loves Blush to do this very interesting post of our most amazing finds of the year (makeup, skincare etc etc). Thank you Supriya!! :)
So here goes the first post - Makeup! I had a tough time (read 2 nights) deciding my best makeup find this year. Yes, I don't have one kind of product mainly because all these years when it came to make-up I was all about the eyes..Yes.Always. I never gave much attention to the other areas and this year I finally realised what I was missing out on. Tch!
Anyway here are my picks:

I never gave much attention to the other areas and this year I finally realised what I was missing out on. Tch!
Anyway here are my picks:
I have already shared some of my favourite Christmas Manicures HERE in my last post. And these are some others too that I liked quite a lot. Take a look!
1) The Christmas French Manicure:
I am a big fan of the french manicure! And if you aren't confortable to sport super bright colourful nails, then giving a Christmas-y twist to a french mani might just work out for you!
It is the holiday season finally! I just can't wait for the festivites to begin! (Smriti is coming home and so are some relatives.. it will be so much fun!) Aren't you excited for Christmas and the New year too?
So, embracing the holiday spirit I flaunted some nail art over the last few weeks.. Now I am not a pro (there were some fabulous ones I just couldn't do..), but I did find some designs which were not that difficult.
Here are a few which I loved:
1) Candy Cane Mani:
If you like nail art and it's Christmas, you just have to try candy cane nails! It's quick, simple and cute. You can vary the thickness of the stripes. I used a white base and did red stripes (you can do the opposite too). Let the coats dry else you will end up with pink instead of white. Add some silver for some sublte bling.
It's getting so cold finally and one of the best things about winter is that you get to have big bowls of soup to keep yourself warm and cozy....one comfort food that usually comes in the healthy category. I know we have all kinds of ready to eat soups available these days and frankly, yes those are such a time saver...but they are in no way better than ones made at home. Here's a recipe for a super easy tomato soup (there are lots of variations, but I like this the best because I have grown up drinking it!). It won't take you long to make & will taste absolutely yummy despite being simple!
Here is the last Elle18 Color Pops Lipstick shade I have in my stash. Pink Pout and Cinnamon Bun have already been put up, so do check them out.
Do we all agree that the Lakme Lip Love Lipsticks are really great to look at? The shiny red packaging with a shiny sliver heart and LOVE engraved on the lipstick bullet...it looks like candy! I haven't tried the lipsticks from this range yet (I had my eye on Love Haze and Aphrodite Blush..only I know how I have resisted them so far) but I have the Lip Conditioner in Charmer which I really love.
Anyway, coming to the point...Here are the swatches of the newly launced 7 shades. A collection of brights rather than neutrals or browns. Take a look:
My HG sunscreen is the Lotus Herbals 3 in 1 Matte Look Sunblock. It just suits my skin so so perfectly and I am in love with it. But there are those weird days sometimes (especially in winters) when my skin feels somewhat dry. And on those days the Fabindia Vitamin E sunscreen comes to my rescue.
This review should have been up a long time ago...! Firstly, I have now hit pan on this and secondly (most importantly) Lakme has renamed it. It is now known as Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening Compact. I haven't tried the new one yet. I have sampled them at the counter many times (planning to give it a try soon). So here is a quick summary on this one.
You already know that I am loving colour blocking these days (hey..it's never too late to follow a trend!). So what should one do to a 4 day old manicure that is wearing at the edges? Give yourself a colour blocking manicure of course! You get away without removing the old polish and it saves you time! Seeee! Smart and easy isn't it? Plus you get to flaunt some fancy nails! :) Win Win!
Who doesn't like colour blocking? You know it looks pretty fantanstic, wherever you use it. So why not use the trend to add some zing to your space? And I am not talking about a big time consuming project, just take out 10 minutes and make yourself a pretty thing, with stuff lying around the house :)
When it comes to metallics, we normally tend to think of 3- gold, silver and bronze. Some of us may include a copper. But as Professor Trelaweny would say, "Broaden your minds, my dears, and allow your eyes to see past the mundane!" (The number of times I have read the Harry Potter books!) Time to try some unusual hues. Which brings me to todays colour Luscious Berry.
We all agree that a basic black eye pencil is a must have for every girl. (The Amway Kajal Coal is my favourite and Smriti loves her Colossal). But let us not stop there. Don't you just love adding a pop of colour to your eyes somedays without having to use eyeshadows. This is where all those fun coloured eye pencils come in and the Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencil in Prunella is the most gorgeous purple I have come across..ever!
On a trip to the pharmacy a few months back (to stock up on some essential tablets) I noticed the Scholl foot care range happily sitting on one of their shelves. I happily gave in to the temptation (whaaat? They called out to me okay :P) and bought the Foot and Nail cream and this Rough Skin Remover. According to me they (walking daily in the sun and running around in the hospital does weird stuff to your feet you know) would be perfect for some self pampering :) :D
Hello all!
I just got back from Allahabad thursday night after attending a big fat Indian wedding...(in case you were wondering why there weren't any posts since the past few days) and all of yesterday was spent catching up on lost sleep. You know how weddings are...so many events and such little sleep. By the end of it you are left with raccoon eyes and aching feet :P Although it is an entirely different scene when the wedding events are in full swing..SO MUCH FUN! Dressing up, catching up with relatives, the songs, the dancing and the food!
Anyway, enough blabbering for now. Today I am going to rave about the Faces Canada eyeshadow brush which I have been using since over a year now. I carried 2 of these to the wedding and I was all sorted. If I were to sum up this review in one line (which I am not so don't get too happy :P), I would just tell you all to close your eyes and just get this! It is amazing!
I started using hair serums when I was in college. Hostel life and hectic schedules take a toll on you. I didn't get enough time to oil my hair and they were being washed very frequently. It didn't take my hair long to reduce to half its thickness and become frizzy and dry. It was then that I needed some extra products to take care of whatever I had left. I tried on a few serums before I found this one I love so much now.
Winter is setting in and I can totally see its effects on me. Dry stretchy skin, hair issues and chapped lips to get started. So my hunt for perfect winter products has begun. I am sure you must be stocking up too. This brings me to my review today. I wanted a heavy duty lip balm which would work magic on my chapped lips during the cold days. And when I came across the Biotique Overnight Therapy Lip Balm, I thought what could be better? Slather this on your lips at night and *swoosh* (that's the wand waving sound if I wasn't clear) wake up to baby soft lips.
I'm always on the lookout for new deodorants while shopping. While I'm not too fond of the over flowery smelling ones, once in a while I'm lucky enough to find a real gem. Happy Game is one such find that I picked up just on a whim, after having a good experience with the Natural Vitality variant.
Erich Segal never fails to impress me with most of his stories. He is one author who can bring out emotions so well. If you have been following our reviews here, you will know how much I love Doctors (reviewed here). Man Woman and Child is another book of his that would be in my favourites list.
I had bought two other shades from the Maybelline Color Show range - 103 Moon Beam and 005 Wine & Dine. Today I am swatching Moon Beam and Wine & Dine will be coming up next. Meanwhile, you can check out Tenacious Teal here, another gorgeous shade that I think is perfect for winters!
See, I have been searching for over 4 months now for a bin to keep in my room. Something inconspicuous and not too pricey (all I wanted was a small one to throw used cotton swabs, bits of paper etc..). And I hunted lots of places for it, only to find bright plastic ones with flashy flowers and what not printed on it or corporate looking steel ones that were a tad too big for my purpose. I finally gave up today and made myself one today. After getting frustrated you find ways to improvise. I found my inspiration on Pinterest :)
15 minutes and you are done. Seriously! (atleast if your container is not too big).
15 minutes and you are done. Seriously! (atleast if your container is not too big).
Hope you and your family have a beautiful Diwali filled with love, laughter, prosperity and lots of happiness!
I am sure all of you must be looking gorgeous today! And I am hoping you gorged on lots of yummy mithais like I did :D
Lots of love!
P.S. I know this post is coming really late. Sorry for that...but my net connection was acting very funny today :(
Hello all!
Sharing a short quick review and swatches of the Colorbar Lip Pot Warm Me Up today (I quite like the name...maybe since I am usually always feeling cold). Anyway, this was one of our gifts to mom on her anniversary last year, along with a small Fabindia skincare hamper. She was always looking out for a neutral everyday wear lip colour and when we saw this we had to pick it for her. (It is another story that we shamelessly borrow it most of the time from her since it is a great colour...that is one of the advantages of gifting stuff to moms, they let you borrow :D)

The Lakme 9-to-5 Office Stylist Lipsticks have taken us all by surprise haven't they? The beautiful metallic rose gold packaging, the astonishingly light matte formula and some really pretty shades..no wonder they were appreciated by most. It was so unlike Lakme I must say to come out with such good stuff... although if you have been keeping watch, they have been coming out with some really great products. Way to go Lakme!
Check out these 7 shades we have swatched before (some of the best shades in the lot acoording to me). And you can read about Toffee Nexus, Coffee Command and Tea Break which are great pinky and peachy nude shades.
Anyway, here are some more swatches of the 9-to-5 lipstick range. Hopefully they will help you decide which shade to get.

You know those instances when you want a product that gives you that much raved about "glow" instantly? Imagine that you are running late and going to a parlour is just of the question and you need something to give you that healthy skin that is bouncing off light..you would reach out to a readymade facepack 8 out of 10 times. Easy peasy quickfix. Right? This is what my mother wanted and the SA at the VLCC counter handed her the Insta Glow Face Pack with tall claims of how wonderfully it works.
We got our first award and it feels amazing! Getting awards from fellow bloggers improves confidence so much, doesn't it? Rachna from MyBeautyExpress (check out her great blogs) nominated C&D for the Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you so much! It means a lot :)
The rules of the award are :
- If you are nominated, you are awarded the Versatile Blogger Award!
- Do thank the person who gave you this award.
- Include the link of her blog.
- Nominate 15 other bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award.
- Finally, tell the person who nominated you & do tell 7 things about yourself.
Seven things you did not know about me :
- I am a Big Big Foodie. I love eating most of the things except plain old home food and I am a huge chicken kebab fan now! Which is funny because I had given up eating non vegetarian food when I was 5 :P
- I am more concerned about animals and their well being rather than for our species. Lets say if there was an accident involving a dog, I would be more concerned about the animal (and I am a dentist...you think I would be much worried about people). Before you judge me...There is something extremely warm and selfless about animals.
- I go to sleep really really really late most of the nights (read almost dawn :P). Hostel habits *sigh*!
- I play drums and the guitar. Been learning it for the past two years...it is a great way to de-stress!
- I get irritated very easily and over small issues. My mom and sister can so testify to that.
- I am over emotional in most of the situations but I do like being direct rather than beating about the bush (saves so much time that way right?).
- Till about 2nd year of college all I had in my make-up box was an eyeliner, 2 lip glosses - a clear and a pink tinted one and a kajal (all Lakme). And I was hugely into brown lipsticks till my 4th year... I was so weird...eeeks!
There! I hope you all know me a little better now! Smriti is a bit busy with exams at the moment, so she was not able to put it up. She will update it as soon as she can though.
Here are my nominations for the award :
- Indian Beauty Forever
- Sushy Loves Blush
- Beauty Frontline
- Glam n Gloss
- Beauty At Times Is Skin Deep
- World of Makeup and Fashion
- Vanity no Apologies
- Forever Magnifico
- Cosmochics
- Beauty and Makeup Matters
- Makeup and Beauty Treasure
- Indian Beauty Zone
- Corals with Blues
- Personal Fashion Hub
- Packnowldege
Waiting to read your posts! :)
Every girl should have one good perfume, and if you are lucky then many many more ;) Keeping that in mind I firmly decided to get myself atleast one back in 4th year of college (yes, I did not own a single perfume before that..shame). Since I was new to the perfume department, I was not very eager to buy the luxury expensive ones and I headed to The Body Shop just to check out their range. I tried most of them, narrowed it down to two and then got so confused. They both smelt great and I just couldn't choose! The funny story is that I kept walking around their store for over an hour, sniffing my wrists every 10 mintues like a dog.. even the SA was grinning. *headbang* Ultimately, I bought them both...well, what can a girl do?! :P
Now that you all have grinned too, lets start talking about the Japanese Cherry Blossom EDT.
Most of us have been through that phase when it seemed like our skin had a mind of its own. A few have successfully conquered that phase and some are still battling it. I have an oily skin which back in college would just not behave like I wanted it to. It was frustrating really, every other day a new pimple would decide to say hello. I fought a long war against them (following many things) and thankfully they are reduced drastically now (well one or two still show up sometimes but very infrequently). Fabindia Clove Gel Face Pack was one of the many things that helped me tame my skin. I still use it once in a while and the tub is almost over now, so I must share it with you all :)
Guest post by Ramona Lucille
A few days ago, my friend Ramona posted photos (on Facebook) of some chocolatey Raspberry macarons she had made. I saw them really late in the night and naturally I got super hungry! They looked YUMMY! 2 minutes after I was messaging her to share the recipe with you all. And she did. Isn't she just the awesomest person ever?! Here's the ultimately delicious recipe for your sweet tooth :)
If the approaching weekend isn't giving you enough reason to be happy, ladies, I bring you another!
Presenting the newest launch by our dear Maybelline, the Cheeky Glow blushes, all reviewed together!
See what I did there, the rhyming part? Am I not awesome (and a dork)? :D
Okay, you all know these little babies, so I won't spend time introducing them. Let's get straight to the review. I've tried to cover every aspect to bring you a comprehensive review :)
Now that Autumn has been graciously ushered in after the rains, it's time for all you girls to abandon those cute rubber flip flops and practical clothes and turn you attention to what's trending this season!!
Alright alright, I know trends burn out quickly and style remains eternal, but incorporating those trendy pieces into your wardrobe and meshing them together with your personal style receives brownie points. So ladies, are you ready to be fashion smart with C & D? :)
Everytime I get a different BB cream I tell myself that this would be the last one, because they all are pretty much the same. But then a new one gets lauched that claims to do so much more and before you know it, you are heading to the nearest store to get it!
When the Ponds BB Cream came out, it had the same effect on me. I really wanted to try it out (part of me hoped that it would be like the Ponds TM which was so famous. And I never got to try it...I was in school back then and not much into makeup). But I had two BB creams to finish up and so buying this was kept on hold. I finally got it last month and have been using it ever since.

You must remember my last Hooked Onto post. I promised you all that I would tell you what more you can do with the coffee powder and it's about time that I did. Apart from giving most of us a kick start in the morning, caffeine also combats cellulite effectively. And why shouldn't we use it that way?
Hey guys! It's time for the 2nd post of the swatch fest, and this time it's #92 Candy Drop, from Lotus.
I've always been a fan of these nail polishes because they are Toluene and DBP free, yet have the most amazing consistency and flawless application. And considering how they are priced, you can get them all!

50 Shades Of Grey....where do I begin? You all probably know
that this is one of the fastest selling adult novel of all times. So is it any
good? I would say that you will either love it or hate it. Simple. It is pretty
obvious that most of the women have been seduced by the book and most of the
men are not bothered to read it at all. Men are smart that way really... but I
was curious and wanted to know why women all over are swooning over this book!
As promised in my previous haul post, the swatch fest has now begun, and the first one to be showcased is Toffee Nexus by Lakmé!
We had ordered some goodies for dad a while back and that included 2 shower gels... about time he pampered himself a bit too. Smriti has already reviewed the variant Energy here which is really awesome. Today I am putting up another variant called Muscle Relax. Doesn't the name sound tempting in itself? Who does not want nice relaxed muscles at the end of a long hard working day...or some weekend pampering. (My theory is, you can use the Energy one in the morning to get the woken up feel and use Muscle Relax before bed! Sounds nice?)
It has been ages since we have done a Hooked Onto post! Moslty because I was not hooked onto anything much in particular, but now when I am, it is best to share before I forget :D
My list this time is a mixture of weird things :)
1) Cafe Coffee Day's Dark Forest Ground Coffee Powder
All people who love filter coffee/drip coffee or black coffee give me a *high five*. We got a drip brew machine from Philips recently (which is so wonderful) and added this one to our coffee collection. It comes from coffee beans grown in the Kathlekan estate, is full bodied, dark roasted, and has a very interesting strong flavour. This was the first time I tried speciality coffee and I loved it. Will try their Mysore blend next!
(Pssst... I will tell you what more you can do with the powder in a few days).
2) Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm Strawberry
Those of you who have read the earlier posts know how much I love the Pink Guava one (reviewed here). I got the Strawberry variant this time. It gives a beautiful glossy sheer bright red tint and moisturises well too. Loving it. :)
3) Chunky Brass Neckpiece
Smriti made me buy this one when we went to Bhubaneswar to drop her off to college finally. (check out our road trip pics here). Dhokra crafts made by tribal artisans is a speciality of Orissa (Smriti has bought more of them as you can see in the haul here). If you are going to Bhubaneswar definitely check these out. (We got ours from a store called Uttkalika).
4) Ponds BB Cream
So my Maybelline one got over and I wanted to try something new (the market is flooded with so many of them). I have been using this one for over a month and I quite like it. Detailed review coming soon :)
5) Mehendi :D
You didn't see this one coming, did you? I have had some free time and I was bored = asking dad to get a mehendi cone for me. He got two.. dads are sweet that way na? Anyways, so this is my self work.. it is not very great or professional looking but it made me pass time on a boring afternoon, so fine by me. I also cornered my grandma and mom :P (if I do get better at this, I should start charging.. hehehe).
So, that was my list. What have you been hooked onto lately?
