Ponds BB+ Cream : Review
Written by: Swati on:
Everytime I get a different BB cream I tell myself that this would be the last one, because they all are pretty much the same. But then a new one gets lauched that claims to do so much more and before you know it, you are heading to the nearest store to get it!
When the Ponds BB Cream came out, it had the same effect on me. I really wanted to try it out (part of me hoped that it would be like the Ponds TM which was so famous. And I never got to try it...I was in school back then and not much into makeup). But I had two BB creams to finish up and so buying this was kept on hold. I finally got it last month and have been using it ever since.
Lets face it... BB creams in India are all mostly tinted moisturizers unlike the Korean ones. They are perfect for people who desire a very light weightless coverage over heavy foundations. But...the Ponds BB Cream is a bit more than than the other BB creams we have here!
The cream comes in a white tube with a nozzle and a silver screw cap. The tube is thinner and very sleek compared to the others. It is very easy to carry around. I like it! Nothing fancy but it does not look cheap in anyway. The cream has a nice mild fragrance, nothing too bothersome.
The texture is a lot thicker compared to the other ones I have used (Maybelline, Garnier reviewed here and Lakme CC cream reviewed here ). The cream is heavy and creamy but do not judge it yet. It glides smoothly. Only a tiny amount is needed to cover the entire face. One requires more effort to blend in completely compared to the others, especially over problem areas and dry patches, but it is not that difficult. I blend it in with my fingers and it works well that way, without looking cakey (the heat in your fingers actually helps to blend the product better). As a bonus it also has SPF 30 and PA++.
It does not feel heavy or oily on the skin. (I have oily skin and Smriti has normal to dry skin depending on the weather). It wears exceptionally well on both of us. It lasts for 4 1/2 to 6 hours easily on us and you can prolong the wear with a dusting of compact powder.
The coverage is AMAZING for a BB cream. It gives a medium coverage, like a medium coverage foundation unlike the other tinted moisturizers. I am so impressed! This is one of the main reasons I love this one!
I have a few minor pimple marks and acne scars (on my cheeks mainly) and it covers them up really well. They do not dissapear completely but they are minimized A LOT! It covers up my minor dark circles to a good extent too and I can get away without a concealer on most days. (It will however not completely hide major heavy under eye pigmentation or heavy scarring).
I would say that this gives the skin a semi matte finish almost satin-y Very dry skinned women will definitely need to pre moisturize with this one.
2 major drawbacks

2 major drawbacks
1. It is available in one shade only. It is supposed to work for everyone apparently. In my opinion, it will work nicely for fair to medium skin tones. Very fair and very dusky girls will face a problem since this does not go on very sheer (If you are listening Ponds, your BB cream is good! Do take out more shades! It is necessary).
2. Why on earth do they need to name it "White Beauty"?!! It's just sad. I wish they didn't promote skin whitening like this. It is a BB cream, can it just be marketed like that?!
Even though there are a few cons, it is one of the best bb creams I have tried so far. For girls who want a bit more coverage than the normal tinted creams and yet desire the natural finish, this is an excellent option. And it is super affordable! Love it!
Price: 69 INR for gm and 125 INR for 18g (available online here)
Will I repurchase this?
Oh Yes! I had bought the smaller tube for trial and it is almost over now. Getting the bigger one next :)
And here is a picture of me wearing the cream. This was clicked after around 4 hours of wear (I went to the Durga Puja pandal to have bhog...it was yum! Hehehe) with just the BB cream and some blush (Maybelline Cheeky Glow in Peachy Sweetie reviewed here) on my face. No powder. Hopefully you will be able to judge a bit.
