VLCC Insta Glow Face Pack and Revital Ampoule : Review

Written by: Swati on:

You know those instances when you want a product that gives you that much raved about "glow" instantly? Imagine that you are running late and going to a parlour is just of the question and you need something to give you that healthy skin that is bouncing off light..you would reach out to a readymade facepack 8 out of 10 times. Easy peasy quickfix. Right? This is what my mother wanted and the SA at the VLCC counter handed her the Insta Glow Face Pack with tall claims of how wonderfully it works.

I know it will be tough to get my sarcastic tone in the above line since you cannot hear me, but let me tell you in one line that this pack is weird and so not worth it. Here's why :

As you can see in the above photo, it has to be used with the Revital ampoule which is not included in the pack and the two products cannot be used without each other (Such a perfect strategy for increasing sales! They should so sell these two together in one pack!).

The pack comes in a sturdy tub which is a lot bigger than the actual amount of product inside. So do not go by the size of the tub. The pack is really thick/stiff in consistency and very creamy. It has a synthetic fragrance. I did not find it pleasant at all. The cream however does spread easily despite being so thick.

Mixing upto 6 drops from the ampoule makes the pack very oily. 3-4 drops is more than enough. The pack takes a lot of time to dry. I have used it thrice till now and never had enough patience to let it dry completely. 15 minutes is what I gave.

Now comes the worst part (as if the earier mentioned negatives were not enough). It is a pain to remove/wash off the face pack. Absolute pain. You wet your face and begin massaging and removing the mask and wash it off. But instead of the "Insta Glow" it gives you "Insta White"!! (girls who are a fan of whitening creams, let me tell you that it is not that kind of white either). You are left behind with an oily creamy white layer that just refuses to go away no matter how much you rub of wash your face! *horror*

The swatch below is after 5 minutes of vigourous rubbing..so you can get an idea of what I am talking about.
The only way I could remove it off completely is by wiping my face harshly with a towel, after which I was left with a sore red monkey face. I did try to make the product work instead of judging it on just the first use, but this happened each time. Not just on my oily skin but also with mom who has dry skin. This was such a turn off that mom has stopped using the pack altogether and I am somehow finishing it by using it on my feet...although I am having very strong urges to throw this into the bin.

The only result I could see is that is does make the skin smoother and softer but that result can be got by so many other products as well without sporting the white mask or a red face look.
This pack is definitely not meant for oily skins. Dry skinned women will prefer it since it is oil and cream based....if they are willing to overlook all those cons.

Overall, this was one of the worst face packs we used. Shall stay away from the VLCC counters for a long long time now!!
