Makeup Revolution Iconic 1 Redemption Palette : Review

Written by: Smriti on:

A girl just can't have enough, especially when it comes to makeup, and Makeup Revolution is here to fulfill all your lustful needs ;)

After Iconic 3 won my heart, how could I resist in getting another palette from the same range? I absolutely loved the previous one with 12 buttery rose-gold shades and with Iconic 1 (a dupe of Urban Decay's Naked palette) I've added 12 warm gold shades to my collection! Yay!

Just look at it, so much gorgeousness in one picture! Such delectable hues for ultimate bliss! The first 8 are incredibly warm and neutral, but the last 4 are packed with colour.

You'll be knowing the details of the packaging from my previous post (plain black pan, clear plastic lid without a mirror), so I'll straightaway walk you through the eyeshadow shades. For convenience, I've named them 1 - 12 from left to right.

Shade 1 is a milky iridescent peach in the pan. On my skin it turns into a subtle pale highlight. Great for use under the brows or on the inner duct area. It comes in a satin finish.

Shade 2 is a beautiful buttery champagne with pink undertones. This one is a frost finish.

Shade 3 is a matte milky beige brown, very good for blending as it makes an excellent nude!

Shade 4 is is a shimmery cocoa brown, a good natural shadow for Indian skin tones.

Shade 5 is a matte medium brown, a nutmeg shade, and I use it mostly on my crease. It makes a good transition shade for Indian skin tone.

Shade 6 is a lustrous bronze, I'm so much in love with this! Makes for a great gilded look.

Shade 7 is a deep darkened bronze, good to use on the outer third of the eyes.

Shade 8 is a purple-y chocolate brown in a satin finish with a copper sheen to it.  I've worn it as an all over lid colour here.

Shade 9 is a coppery pink. I use it to give a lovely wash of colour to my lids.

Shade 10 is a roasted khaki brown, satin finish. It has hints of bronze too.

Shade 11 is a dark smokey ash. It has the most disappointing texture in the entire palette. The eyeshadow is chalky and doesn't blend well, pigmentation is also poor. Blended out, it gives a matte finish with specks of silver.

Shade 12 is a satin finish gunmetal grey. This shadow also feels a little hard to the touch, and takes slightly more effort to blend than the first 10 shades. This is also the only cool toned eyeshadow in the palette.

That's all for the shade description, and now coming to the quality, they do not disappoint. Let's leave shade 11 out of the conversation here. In terms on longevity, they last quite a while, but on humid days I do notice the shadows slipping and travelling up by mid-day, especially with shades 6 and 7. I do not wear a primer underneath, so maybe that's the fault.
To the touch, all satin-shimmer ones feel smooth and buttery, shade 11 is chalky (bleh) and 12 is a bit harder than the rest.
Blendabilty is also good and I have never faced any harsh line issues with any of the eyeshadows.

Now I know I haven't put up eotds but if you follow us on Instagram, the Iconic 1 and 3 are pretty much featured in my fotds, like the one here, where I wore Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Bold Gold as a base, shade 6 in the inner third, shade 7 in the middle third, and shade 10 in the outer V. Shade 5 was my crease colour, but I kept it very light.
My everyday look consists of shade 4 and 5, quick and easy.
One time I tried a subtle grey smokey eye with 12 and 11 and it turned out slightly messy, but chalega type. I don't have a proper picture of it, but this is when I wore it.
