NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, Cannes : Review
Written by: Smriti on:
I am a matte and nude lipstick lover, as is quite evident on the blog. When I get dolled up to go out, I'd rather keep the attention on my eyes rather than my lips, and that has led me to build up an army of nude lippies with different undertones to complement any look!
The first NYX soft matte lip cream I tried was Abu Dhabi (a PR sample, and much adored) and I was awed by its mousse like texture, its pigmentation and staying power. It took me a while, but I finally added two more shades to build up the perfect trio of the range - a nude (Abu Dhabi), a sophisticated colour (Cannes), and a glamorous red (Copenhagen).
Let's talk about Cannes today!
The small tube packaging is purse-friendly and convenient to spot as it is colour-coded to match the product inside. It has a short doe foot applicator, which picks up the right amount for applying one thin layer of the cream on your lips.
On application, this product feels like a mousse-cream, very soft and airy. It almost melts into your lips! You'll be surprised with how much of pigment it packs, I rarely need to dip the wand again for a second layer.
Applied once, it will stay put for nearly 6 hours without meals, 4 with regular drinks. It does not survive a meal well, and will need reapplication. However unlike the newer matte liquid lipsticks, this does not flake or look parched on reapplication. This is a huge plus point in my opinion, I always like hassle-free products!
Cannes as a colour is a beautiful medium to dark peach-pink, with slight warm undertones. It is a colour well suited to Indian skin tones, and for all ages. It is neither too bright, nor as muted down as a nude - just enough to brighten up the complexion.
