Green tea is one of the most popular Korean skincare ingredients and with good reason - it is rich in polyphenol (catechins) & is proven to be a powerful antioxidant. It protects the skin from UV damage (free radicals), it is also an anti-inflammatory (helps reduce redness & irritation), anticarcinogenic & antimicrobial. Because of these properties, it is a fantastic ingredient to add to your skincare routine.
But, just like everything else out there, there are different qualities of green tea extracts (depending on climate, season, age of the leaf and how it was grown). A good quality green tea extract contains 50-90% catechins, have a brownish colour and has a characteristic tea-like smell. This is where the Isntree Green Tea Fresh Toner comes in. When I wanted to add a high-quality green tea product to my routine, I knew I had to pick this up.
Formulated with 80% of Green Tea Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, and Centella Asiatica Extract. The green tea is harvested from Jeju Island and is great to revitalize the skin. This Green Tea Fresh Toner also controls your oil, protects, brightens, and balances the skin. It works great with acne due to the Centella extracts inside and it moisturizes the skin. The Green Tea Fresh Toner is hypoallergenic and contains EWG green grade ingredients that are safe to use on the skin.

The toner comes in a brown coloured plastic bottle with a twist-off cap. It's a pretty basic no-nonsense bottle. The toner itself is brown in colour & has a very thin consistency, almost like water. Think of it like over-brewed green tea...this looks exactly like that. It is alcohol-free & doesn't have any artificial fragrance. There is a faint herbal scent from the ingredients themselves, but it's mild.
* The toner stains clothes, so be careful.....I have ruined a white shirt.
On the skin, the toner feels refreshing. Green tea also helps control excess sebum making this toner a good fit for oily skin throughout the year and combination skin in the summer. That's not to say that other skin types cannot benefit from it, but they will need to use it in conjunction with something more hydrating & nourishing.

Will I repurchase it?
Maybe. It's more suited for oily skin types, but I like the thought of giving my skin a boost of antioxidants in the morning since I don't use Vit C that often. And this is a good option since green tea is rich in antioxidants. You won't see drastic transformative results, I don't expect it either....but I trust that it is going to benefit my skin in the long run. I might repurchase it on and off, especially during summer. For anyone with oily skin looking for a toner, this is a lovely option.
