Needless to say, my love for K-beauty has been going strong. Let me begin by declaring that this hasn't been an easy thing at all, considering my low-buy/no-buy journey! So many exciting products to try, so little time, and only a single face 😩

I had been reading up so much on the benefits of propolis, partly because Smriti was on the hunt for healing agents, and partly because Korean skincare is big on this ingredient and it was getting difficult to resist the temptation to try it out for myself.

And after having tried and loved Mugwort, Centella, Snail mucin, I wanted to explore the other staples K-beauty had to offer, so I decided to buy the CosRx Full Fit Propolis Light Ampoule for myself.

It's been almost a year since I've been using the Tony Moly Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Essence, but you know me (and Swati) 😅 we always try to make sure we have tested any skincare for a long time before we share our thoughts and experience with it. We also tend to procrastinate a lot 🙈

With summers in India being particularly harsh, I'm always on the lookout for fresh feeling products that not only leave my skin breathable, but also incorporate some properties to combat photo-damage. Green tea, being a powerhouse of anti-oxidants and generally having a light formulation, tops the list and that's why I went searching for a nice serum or essence to incorporate into my routine.

Tony Moly The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Essence review, Tony Moly Essence review, Tony Moly india, Tony Moly Green Tea Essence review, Tony Moly Chok Chok

The Tony Moly Chok Chok Essence caught my eye almost immediately because of its high percentage of green tea extract. Tony Moly has essentially replaced water (aqua) in all formulations of this range with fermented green tea extract that ensures potent goodness for the skin.

Finding a good moisturizer can be tougher than finding your soulmate....I know that it has taken me years to find a few that work well for me. Was it easier to find my soulmate? Probably :D

What I want my moisturizer to be like?
Well, mostly a basic one but with some oomph to it. Most year-round I want one which isn't super rich or heavy, yet not be too light that it feels like nothing on the skin. It should be able to moisturize and lock in the hydration I have built up in the previous steps so that my skin doesn't feel dehydrated as I go about my day. And it should not break me out. I don't expect usually expect it to do any other miracles. Is it too much to ask? I don't think so.

In 2019, thanks to Smriti, I found my favourite one - the Klairs Midnight Calming Cream. I fell in love with it so hard, that I needed to explore the brand more and shortly after I added products from their Fundamental Range in my stash. I have spoken about all the others already - here. Rounding it up with the Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream today.

If you have been paying close attention to my usual skincare picks, you will notice that I have a soft spot for products that are soothing, calming and barrier supportive. Put these words in the description of a product and I am definitely interested in picking it up. This is why I got hold of the Beauty Of Joseon Calming Serum. I didn't really need it as I had a fair share of calming products already. But being on a Korean skincare journey I wanted to try out BeautyofJoseon and this serum felt like the perfect fit for me.

I have been on a skincare journey for many years now, and yet you will be surprised when I say that I haven't tried a lot of Vitamin C serums. I don't even use one regularly. Whaaat? A skincare enthusiast not trying out or using the most hyped-up & talked about skincare ingredients?

Having sensitive acne-prone skin, I am generally wary of new products and most formulations since there's a high chance of making matters worse if I am not careful. But a few months back I felt that my skin was looking somewhat dull and blotchy, it could definitely do with some brightening and the Martiderm Pigment Zero DSP-Bright caught my attention.

Martiderm is a Spanish skincare brand known to make concentrated treatments. They have ampoules of different target ingredients - Vit C, Hyaluronic acid, Glycolic & Lactic acid etc. After some reading and research, I decided to take a leap of faith and invest in this product.

Hello everyone! Smriti here!

I have been trying out the Some By MI Propolis B5 Glow Barrier Calming Cream & while that's a long name, I have seldom come across products where the name is so apt! Every word perfectly describes what the cream does.

It's no news that I love the Klairs Fundamental line. Having tried almost ALL! of the products in this range (read about them here), I thought I could give the last one a go and added their Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel to my stash. Does your skin feel dehydrated no matter what you do? If so, I think I have the perfect product that you can consider adding to your routine. So let's take a minute & dive deeper into the Klairs Fundamental Amuple Mist.

This mist felt like a good fit for me since I always like to begin my skincare routine with a light spritz of something. Usually, it is rose water or the Avene Thermal Spray, but I am always up to trying something new, especially if it's from a brand & range I already love (Read my thoughts on other products from the Fundamental Line here).

Ever since I got trapped in a vicious cycle of acne, my skincare stash saw a number of new, Cica-oriented products being hauled in. Swati & I have been practising low-buys for a couple of years now but seeing how my skin's needs had changed drastically, I needed to build a routine that focused more on taking care of them and that's how I decided to purchase the Skin & Lab Medicica Calming Cream.

Here's the thing - once I find products that work well for me, I stick to using & repurchasing them over and over again. That's why it took me so long to try out the Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser. I wasn't really looking to try out new face washes but happened to do some random scrolling on the phone late one night and one week later the Rovectin cleanser came home :D

While my hair is relatively well behaved, my oily scalp gives me problems from time to time. Due to the nature of my work (I need to wear head caps often) and the hot humid climate India has most of the year, my scalp gets itchy and flaky, especially during the monsoons. I also get mild dandruff sometimes, mostly during the winter months. Which is why I like to keep an anti-dandruff shampoo in my hair care stash....coz I never know when I will need it. I tried the Selsun Selenium Sulfide Shampoo a few months back and it has been working extremely well.

Ever since I really got into K-beauty 2 years back, I have started exploring the wonderful world of essences. I am late to the party I know but better late than never! I feel that essence was the missing step from my routine and I love using one. Why do I like essences so much? They provide the hydration I need without being heavy and most of them are packed with amazing ingredients.

Take the Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence, for example, I have been using it for about 4½ months now and the third essence I have tried so far. I stopped using it for a few weeks in between since it got way too hot and humid here but picked it back again recently. And I am finally sure how I feel about it. Read on :)

Let me begin the post by saying that I love using face masks. Ingredients like haldi (turmeric), chandan (sandalwood), multani mitti (fuller's earth), besan (gram flour), to name a few, have been a part of my skincare since my teenage years...at a time when I literally did nothing else in the name of skincare except applying a homemade ubtan 1-2 times a week. Tch! My routine has thankfully evolved with time, knowledge and a better understanding of what works for my skin, but I still love my weekly masking! Of course, they don't replace my skincare products but the experience of putting on a mask is something I look forward to.

When I went to college, it became quite difficult to whip up my homemade masks (it was difficult to source fresh ingredients and well, I admit that I also got lazy). So, I looked into premade masks and powders and found a few gems. The Kama Ayurveda Nimrah Face Pack was one such product.
I used this mask a lot during my college days and have mentioned it several times on the blog, but never got around to writing a detailed post on it. Let me share my thoughts & experience today :)

I tried the much loved & raved about Plum Olive & Macadamia Mega Moisturizing Hair Mask recently. I have not explored much from the brand yet, the one thing I did try was their Green tea face mask which is a good one for oily skin and I have spoken about it on the blog earlier. The haircare product I didn't think I needed, but love ever since I've tried it out! There aren't many products that can show visible changes in one use but Olaplex No 3. Hair Perfector is almost like magic in a bottle!

I had tried the in-salon treatment No.1 & 2 back in 2017 (I have an old blog post on it!) and I remember being very impressed with the results. So, when I decided to step up my haircare game and do something to prevent further damage, Olaplex No. 3 was one of the first things that came to my mind and I bought my first bottle in August 2019 (I had to look up my order history :D)

You will never find me without a tub/tube of The Face Shop Jeju Aloe vera gel. Smriti & I avidly stock up on it during sales! After being a fan for so many years, I was delighted when the brand launched the new Jeju Aloe Fresh Soothing Foam Cleanser and I got the opportunity to try it out!

At first glance I almost mistook it to be their Jeju Aloe Gel, I thought that the packaging has been revamped. It was only after noticing a bunch of beautiful bubbles in the tube, that I read the small text on the tube and realized it was a cleanser :D

When Laneige first launched in India, one of the first few products that I tried from the brand was their much loved & raved about Lip Sleeping Mask. I was so impressed with it that I wanted to explore more from the brand and very quickly their Water Sleeping Mask was added to my stash.

I should have spoken about it sooner considering I first tried it a little over 2 years ago, but I wasn't 100% sure about it then. Let's admit it, most of us try to hold onto the natural colour of our hair for as long as possible. In my early 30s, I have a couple of white hair & there are days when I wish it stays this way for as long as possible. However, in recent times, premature whitening of hair has become quite a common issue. So naturally, this means how to stop white hair has become a popular question today.

In the post today, we will be talking about this issue. So let’s get into it.

I didn't think there would be a day when I would be gushing about a scalp brush. But that day has come! Having & using a scalp brush is not essential, but it is such a handy tool to have nevertheless. It can help promote blood circulation & stimulate the scalp, it can help break down product buildup and it feels incredibly relaxing!

And I didn't think it would be so good until I used one. Read on!

Say hello to my first blue nail paint! It's called You're Such A BudaPest & it's from OPI.

Let's first take a moment to appreciate the cute names OPI comes up with and then let's do a minute of silence for me - I got a blue polish! Me...the lover of nudes, neutrals and an occasional red, who has never dabbled into the blue zone before! Who am I even? And what has happened to me?

I have always had long hair and while it is relatively straight & low on frizz, there are many days when the frizz increases and because of the length it gets tangles easily which causes hair breakage and hair fall. At 30 something, when things are going to go downhill skin & hair-wise, I of course get tempted to do whatever I can (within reasonable & my comfort range) to keep things in a relatively good state. So, one fine day last year as a birthday treat I ordered a silk pillowcase. It wasn't an impulse purchase, I considered getting it for almost a year before I took the plunge.

Is haircare a priority on your agenda? I have to confess that my routine isn't elaborate. Shampoo & condition is what I usually do and some days I use a hair serum. If I have some time or want to pamper my hair occasionally, I use a hair mask sometimes. I do however *love* oiling my hair. 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘪 is a quintessential part of ancient Indian self-care & most who have grown up practising this ritual will vouch for its benefits!

I go through phases of loving nail paints and periods when I just cannot be bothered to paint my nails. Please tell me that some of you also go through this and I am not alone? Anyway, one summery evening, when I was sorting out my polish stash, I realized that I wanted to add some pop of colours to it. Now, I have never been the one to sport bright green, yellow or blue nails. My current stash is dominated by a lot of neutrals and a few reds - my comfort zone colours. How could I add some colours without feeling too out of place?

A bit of online scrolling brought me to the Faces Splash Nail Enamels. They have a huge shade selection and these weren't very expensive (they are usually on discount) - perfect for some experimentation, I thought!

I ended up picking 4 colours - which in my humble opinion are a great balance of colourful pop but also not too bright!  Take a look at the swatches :)

Aloe there!! 👋 How are you all doing? I am talking about my very first product from Vilvah today - their Aloe Vera Gel. Happy reading!

Aloe vera is such a versatile ingredient - sensitivity anywhere on the skin? Got sunburnt? Aloe vera soothes. Need relief after shaving or waxing? Slather some aloe gel on. Need to add some hydration to the skin?  Or got a light burn? Aloe vera to the rescue... it has so many benefits and is probably one of those common ingredients that almost every household has by now. My mom has been growing pots & pots of Aloe on her terrace for many years and always has fresh aloe gel - made to order :D

Vilvah Aloe vera Gel, Vilvah Aloe vera Gel review, Vilvah review, aloe Vera Gel india

Unfortunately, my skin doesn't respond too well to the fresh gel. I get rashes & itching. I also stay away from home and don't have the talent my mom has when it comes to growing the actual plants. So I stick to using pre-made aloe vera gel.

This post had to go up a year back, but I never got around to writing it somehow. Well, here I am today talking about the It's Skin Power 10 Formula VC Eye Cream. I used it throughout 2019 and till mid-2020: what can I say....it's a tube that keeps going on & on! :D

When it comes to eye cream, the world is divided into 2 - one that uses them and one that doesn't believe in them. I know that eye creams aren't really necessary to use, but I happen to be in the former team & have always liked using a dedicated under-eye product - ever since I got into skincare anyway. Anyway, here's what I think about it. Read on.

More often than not, I stick to products that have been working for me.  I know I write & run a beauty blog, but I am very hesitant to try out new stuff when it comes to skincare. So, if I find a product that works for me I repurchase it over & over again. But sometimes, curiosity gets the better of me & I give in to temptation. It's rare but it happens.... and I try out something new.

This is what happened with the Neemli Rose & Patchouli Facial Toner. I had been using rose water for many years & had found my holy grail in the Kama Ayurveda Rose Water (I have sung enough praises about it already) and I truly did not need to try any new ones out there.  But then I saw the Neemli Rose & Patchouli Facial Toner - the packaging looked super pretty and I thought to myself "hmmm....why not give this a go for a change....it can't really hurt too much, can it?"

Let's see how this impulse buy played out!

So when I saw that they had come out with newer variants, I wanted to check them out. There were 2 new ones - Aloe + Bamboo and Aloe + Eucalyptus, out of which the former appealed to me more. It's not often that I am on the hunt for a new body lotion. I know what works for me, and I repurchase it diligently.

But one quick look at this blue bottle piqued my curiosity greatly. With the Indian summers in full blast, and rising humidity adding the extra tadka, just the name 'Icy Cool hydration' on the soothing blue bottle with the claim 'Instant Cooling' had me drooling.

Hey everybody! Smriti here.

As you guys know I was going through a problematic phase with my skin a while ago. Both my cheeks had bouts of breakouts and closed comedones, resulting from my own mistakes.

In the past, rosehip oil was one skincare product that had worked well on my skin. I loved its effects so much that I got Swati to try it out, and she liked it too and even recommended it to her friends! It was featured in our Budget Friendly Indian Skincare products video - take a look here.

My skin is now at a stage where it has significantly calmed down, and the process of healing has slowly begun. I'm ready to transition to products that will help speedup the healing, and Rosehip oil from Blend It Raw Apothecary really helped do this in the past (so I'll be repurchasing it soon!)

While I do not experiment a lot with skincare, I certainly like to try out new hair care products. There are a few staples in my haircare routine, but I like getting new shampoos & conditioners often. It was in this experimental mood that I picked up the Schwarzkopf Professional Bonacure Hyaluronic Moisture Kick Masque Treatment one day.

Hyaluronic acid treatment for hair? Sounds intriguing, doesn't it? When I think of hyaluronic acid I think of instant hydration! And I could do with some of that for my hair...which is why I picked this hair mask up. Well, this and the fact that I have been using & loving their Moisture Kick Spray conditioner for many months now.

Anyway, let's get right into this post.

I have a favourite new eye cream! And I cannot wait to talk about it here - it's the Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter.

If you don't know already, then let me tell you that I am quite smitten with the Klairs Fundamental line. I have spoken about the Water Oil Drop here already. This eye cream was the 2nd product I picked up from the fundamental line. I went for this because
(a) the brand specifically says that it is great for people who are prone to milia -- I am extremely prone to getting them around my lower lash line ; and
(b) because the formula contains peptides, which has become one of my favourite ingredients.

The Plant Remedy calendula healing salve is one the newest additions to my YBP skincare family. If you are new to our blog, welcome! I'm Smriti and I have used the Plant Remedy Skin Elixir Oil ever since it launched, reviewed HERE which is one of the staples in my stash. I invested in the Plant Remedy Calendula Skin Salve a few weeks after I tried out the the Plant Remedy Skin Salve, reviewed HERE, and the YBP Hydrating Serum Mist.

YBP Plant Remedy Calendula Healing Salve, YBP Calendula Healing Salve, YBP Calendula Healing Salve review

Since I unintentionally over exfoliated my skin, I needed all the healing help I could afford. Calendula is an ingredient well known for its nourishing, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Its oil is also anti fungal and anti bacterial, which makes this a good choice for wound healing and repair.
To put it simply, the sunny blooms of calendula are nature's remedy to address a multitude of skin concerns, and via this salve, YBP has harnessed its raw potential for us to benefit from.

There was a time during my university days when my preferred method of removing makeup - I mainly wore eye & lip products only - was a bi-phase makeup remover. They were quick, convenient & suited my needs. Over the years I have used a good number of them but with time I started to wear some base makeup & so I gravitated more towards cleansing oils - I didn't have the patience to use separate removers for the eye and face.

The Pixi Hydrating Milky Makeup Remover wasn't in the market back then, because if it had been, I would have loved getting my hands on it. A bi-phase remover that can be used on the Eyes, Lips and wait for it... the Face too! Yes, you read it right. Anyway, I am glad I tried it now because I quite like this one. Read on.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Makeup Remover, Pixi, Pixi India

How To Apply
• Use when needed.
• Step 1: Be sure to shake this makeup remover to mix it well before use.
• Step 2: Soak a cotton pad and gently remove even the most stubborn eye, lip and face makeup.
• This Hydrating Milky Makeup Remover is suitable for all skin types including very dry or sensitive skin.

Ingredients : Aqua/Water/Eau, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Avena Strigosa Seed Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract,Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Glycerin, Allantoin, Lecithin, Butylene Glycol.

That's a good ingredient list! Few of the notable ingredients that stand out for me are :
Bifida Ferment Lysate - probiotic ; Coconut Extract - soothing, hydrating, emollient ; Purslane Extract - anti inflammatory, anti oxidant, wound healing ; Lactobacillus extract - skin condtioning ; Skullcap Root Extract - antioxidant & anti inflammatory ; Willow Bark Extract - anti inflammatory & astringent (contains natural salicylic acid) ; Glycerin - moisturizer/humectant ; Allantoin - soothing

The chunky but quite cute looking bottle has a push dispense cap. I had never used this mechanism before and hence had never realised how convenient it is - you simply put a cotton pad on top, press down a few times and it gets saturated with the product. Soooo easy!

The formula is fragrance-free, alcohol-free & essential oil-free which is a big plus. I find the remover gentle yet effective and it does not sting or irritate my eyes. It leaves an oily residue behind and you need to go in with a regular cleanser afterwards - which is alright as a double cleanse is essential if you are wearing makeup anyway. Let me also add that the formula isn't harsh or drying on the skin.

You simply shake the bottle to mix the 2 phases (oil & water) - it turns into a milky white liquid, put a cotton pad soaked in the remover on the area, let it sit for a bit, wiggle the cotton a bit so that it gets between the lashes properly and wipe away gently. I usually wear light makeup and this managed to take off everything easily - light to medium coverage concealer & foundation, eyeshadow (including glitter), mascara, lipstick (regular & those long staying liquid formulas).

If you would like to see it in action, I have a video here that will give you a better idea.

The Pixi Hydrating Milky Makeup Remover is a good one if :
  • you like using bi-phase removers
  • and if you want one that can be used on the face too
  • if you wear light-medium makeup
  • if you are travelling and you do not want to carry multiple/separate cleansers (one for your base, one for your eyes).
What I liked the best? The fact that this can be used on the face too. I haven't come across many (actually when I think about it, I haven't come across of any) bi-phase makeup removers that can be used to remove base makeup.

I had actually stopped using makeup removers because I had moved onto oils & I also do not want to use cotton rounds/pads anymore (not the most sustainable & I am finishing up my last batch which I bought over a year ago) but I really like this makeup remover & want to keep using it - I just need to get hold of some reusable cotton rounds now. If you have any recommendations for those, let me know :)
