Pixi Skintreats Multi-Masking Medley : Glow Mud Mask, Rose Flash Balm & T-Zone Peel Off Mask
Written by: Swati on:
I have been delaying this post for weeks. The pictures were all ready, but I just couldn’t bring myself to write the post. I wasn’t feeling low or anything, just didn’t feel like writing. But it was nice to take a short break. Anyway, let’s get into this quick review! I wanted to give a few more products from Pixi a try after their Glow Tonic and Glow Mud Cleanser (reviewed HERE and HERE) so when I found this little pack of trial sized masks last year, I thought it would be the perfect way to try the products without investing a lot of money. You know me, I love to try a sample size as much as possible before committing to a full size product.
This Multi-Masking Medly comes with the Glow Mud Mask, Rose Flash Balm & T- Zone Peel Off Mask - 15 ml each.
1) Glow Mud Mask (available here)
If you read the blog regularly or if you follow me on Instagram you hopefully know by now that I really like and enjoy the Glamglow Supermud Mask (review HERE). I tried it first in 2018 and since then I have always tried to look for possible alternatives for it given how expensive Glamglow is.
It was in search of a cheaper alternative that I came to try the Pixi Glow Mud Mask (ie the main reason I bought this kit).
This is a clay mask, dark grey in colour with kaolin, ginseng, sea salt, aloe vera, bentonite, glycerin, diatomaceous earth all high up in the ingredients list. You can see the full ingredients list on the Pixi website.
The mask is smooth and creamy & spreads well. It dries quickly, I left it on for 10-15 minutes & it doesn’t feel too dry or uncomfortable. It also rinses easily.
I did experience the feeling of clean skin post the mask (a common effect of a good clay mask) which did not feel dried out or stretchy (I have combination skin). So that's good.
But visibly I didn’t notice a big difference after the mask, something which I always get with the Supermud. I was expecting it show a bit more difference than what it did. It might show more results with regular continued use, but from the few tries I got with this mini tube, I am not a 100% convinced and will continue to use my much loved Supermud.
It’s not a bad product. It didn’t break me out or cause any reactions and it cleansed well, but my expectations were a bit more with this. Perhaps, if I hadn't used the Supermud before then I would have liked this more.
2) Rose Flash Balm
Okay, let me not beat about the bush with this. I did not like this product at all.
This is supposed to be a radiance boosting balm like a pick me up for tired skin which lacks lustre. So it’s supposed to help with signs of fatigue in a flash - according to the brand. You can apply a thin layer after cleansing or it can be used as a quick 5 min mask in a thicker layer. You aren’t supposed to rub the product into the skin if you are using a thin layer.
In my option this is more of a pre makeup product with some added skincare benefits - like a hydrating primer you can use before makeup. This is a white cream with a strong rose fragrance. I have used it both a pre makeup primer as well as mask and here’s my thought :
As a pre makeup primer - Absorbs quick and leaves the skin slightly hydrated. But, but.... this pills on me! Like crazy! It peels and balls up the minute I rub my skin even a bit or whenever I go over it with any makeup product.
As a mask - Provided an okay level of hydration. Didn’t react with my skin or break me out. But didn’t hydrate as much as I wanted.
So in short - If I am want to use a hydrating primer I much rather use something else like Smashbox Primerizer (review HERE) or the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base or frankly any good moisturiser.
If I want to use a hydrating mask I will rather slap on a layer of honey on my face or use other hydrating masks which do a better job.
And as far as minimising the fatigue in a flash goes, I prefer the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm which is loads better!
3) T-Zone Peel Off Mask
This is supposed to be a detoxifying pell off mask which draws out impurities and lifts oil to give you immediate results. It contains avocado, aloe, green tea, cucumber and bamboo extract.
Okay, let’s get one thing straight - I do not like peel off masks. I don’t use them, I don’t recommend them. They can end up doing more damage than good. But for the sake of the review, I gave this a try a few times. I don’t think it did anything. I found the mask to be pretty pointless. (I don't have a lot of blackheads to begin with, so I don't expect any peel off masks to pull them out).
There, shortest review ever. 😄
Will I be repurchasing any of this in the full size?
I don’t think so. There are products that I have which work better for my skin and these do can not replace them. But please keep in mind that this is my personal opinion and preference. If any of these work well for you, then don’t stop using it on my account.
xoxo,
Swati
