Pixi Glow Tonic

You've probably heard about the Pixi Glow Tonic plenty of times already. It's up there in almost all favourites, everyone recommends it and simply put it made every skincare enthusiast go "ga-ga". And with good reason!
The skincare junkie in me couldn't wait for much longer, could she? It's a shame Pixi Skintreats isn't available in India yet (Why?! Oh why?!), but there are plenty of websites/online sellers from whom you can get a hold of this.

Before I talk about the Glow Tonic any further, know this : IT IS AN EXFOLIATING TONER with 5% GLYCOLIC ACID.
Read our full post about Chemical Exfoliation HERE

I quite like the no-nonsense simple bottle it comes in. There are different sizes available (15ml, 100ml, 250ml), so like me, you can get hold of a smaller bottle to try out.

How To Apply :
• Use: Either in the AM and PM or when needed
• Step 1: Cleanse your face
• Step 2: Saturate a cotton pad with the Glow Tonic and sweep across face, neck and décolletage (avoiding eye area)
• Step 3: Follow with the a serum or moisturizer

Glycolic acid (an AHA) helps to loosen the dead skin thus exfoliating. It has the smallest molecular size among all AHAs and goes in deeper compared to the others. This is why it can cause damage if overused.
I don't think this needs to be used every day. 1-2 times a week should work for most. And if your skin requires more exfoliation then maybe 3 times a week.

I generally use it at night around 2 times a week (or less depending on how my skin is feeling like). I pat it on using my fingers but you can use a cotton round too like I have shown in the photo above.
I have not experienced any stinging/burning with the product, but it can tingle a little for some especially in the first few uses. (If you experience any burning sensation - it should not, but by chance, if you do then please do not use the product).

I generally wake up to smoother & softer skin the next morning whenever I use this.

With time and careful use, AHA also helps to reduce mild pigmentation & dark spots. But please remember that this will be seen with consistent use.

Keep in mind that you need to wear sunscreen every day...religiously! And also focus on hydrating and moisturizing your skin well while using any kind of chemical exfoliant.

 Price : 1400 INR for 100ml ; 2700 INR for 250 ml (Available HERE)

If you are looking for a product that can help reduce dullness & uneven texture, especially for normal-dry skin then you could check the Glow Tonic out.

In my experience, if you have oily skin (blackheads, whiteheads, occasional breakouts) then a BHA might work better.

If you have extremely sensitive skin & glycolic acid has not worked out for you in the past, just tread with some caution and please do a patch test. It might be better to even consider using Lactic acid or Mandelic acid  - both of which don't penetrate very deep.
