Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

I am a lazy bum when it comes to going to a salon...which means I don't go in for a facial/cleanup. Most of my skincare needs and requirements are taken care of at home, which also means I have a small army of products that help me target specific issues.
When it comes to the issue of clogged pores/whiteheads/blackheads I was previously using the Innisfree Supervolcanic Pore Clay Mask but I wasn't 100% satisfied with it. It was definitely good for the price, but I wanted something better (skincare enthusiast issues). After looking around I decided to give the much-hyped Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment a go. Thankfully there is a smaller size available which one can try out before investing in the full size (this product is expensive!). I have used it a few times on myself and on 2 other people who are quite prone to blackheads and here's what I think:

Unlike the Innisfree clay mask (which is thick) the consistency of the Glamglow mask is quite thin (I haven't come across a clay mask with this consistency before) but this makes it really easy to spread over the face and you don't need a lot for each use because it spreads so well.
Some of the good ingredients in the mask are kaolin, mandelic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, aloe vera juice, liquorice extract, cucumber extract, glycerin and calendula extract. However it also contains peppermint oil & fragrance - remember it if you are particular about that.
Personally, I am not very picky about fragrance as long as it is not too strong or unpleasant.
This one tingles especially for the first few minutes when applied. If you have sensitive skin I would suggest you do a patch test before or use this as a spot treatment/areas that need it instead of applying it all over the face. It also has a minty smell and feel which according to me isn't that bad. I leave it on for about 15 minutes (and not more).
Coming to the main part - Does it actually work?
Well, my first impressions say that yes it does. I have tried this on me and 2 others (2 of us used it all over and 1 on the nose). The main problematic area being the nose for all of us and around the chin for me. I saw a visible difference on all 3 of us immediately afterwards.
- It left the skin feeling smooth, pores looked smaller and it had a bit of a brightening effect (which I have to say is temporary).
- Skin felt thoroughly cleansed (like all the gunk had been sucked out). You can see it pull out the oil and impurities (especially in the blackhead prone areas) which is strangely satisfying!
- Did not react or cause any breakouts.
I cannot comment on this improving skin texture yet since that would need some long term and consistent use (I will update you if I notice any improvements/changes).

- Brightens face every time.
- Leaves the skin clean, without feeling too stripped or dry.
- Makes the pores smaller - though this is temporary.
- Controls my breakouts well. I like to use it on my breakouts as a spot treatment & it definitely helps.
I like to use this more on my problematic areas - on the T zone and any other areas that get clogged and are prone to breakouts. Somedays I also use it all over the face but that's not too often.
Yes, the price is crazy! Which is why I can't say that it is a must buy.
It is a really good mask, no doubts about that. I really Iike it. If you don't mind the price tag, do try it. If you are apprehensive about it reacting or not working well, try out the smaller tub first. On second thought, everyone should try the smaller tub/a sample before getting the full size.
Will I buy it again? Most probably yes. It will require some saving up to get the full size...but I get good results from the mask every time I use it. I will also look around for a mask which is similar to this one but at a better price hopefully.

Update : Since I could not find a mask that was 100% same (I did try hard to find a replacement and one came pretty close but it's not the same)...I treated myself to a full sized of the Supermud!
