My Top 5 Favourite Face Masks!

Written by: Swati on:

I have tried a fair share of products over the years. A lot of them did not work out for me, a few did okay and some just blew my mind! While I was very much focused on makeup back in my college days, skincare has become a new passion for me and has become a top priority. How I wish I had realized this earlier and paid more attention to skincare while growing up. Better late than never though!

Masks have always been an all time staple in my skincare routine. I used many simple homemade ones back in the day, but college time onwards I got more used to the boxed ones. I still use the DIYs but love these ready to use one too.

Here are a few of my current favourites! Take a look!

1) Detoxifying/Cleansing Masks

One of my favourite categories of masks to use, thanks to my acne prone skin, I love me a good cleansing mask, preferably mud based, to take out all that gunk clogging up my pores. I have 2 recommendations here :

I was quite enjoying the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask (reviewed here) for a long time. It works well especially if you have oily combination skin prone to breakouts and acne. If you want an afforable detoxifying mask, this is a good one. Available here.

Recently I got my hands on the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment (reviewed here) and I was completely blown away! What a wonderful product! It comes with a hefty price tag (which is such a shame) since I want to recommend this to everyone! I see a big difference every time I use it. This is less drying than the Innisfree one and would work well on normal-dry skins too.
It does tingle though, so might not work that well on overly sensitive skins.
Even though the price is a bummer, I feel I will always have a pot of this in my stash! Available here.

Also, I have been loving The Body Shop Himlayan Charcoal Mask (which is similar to the Glam Glow Supermud!). Reviewed HERE, available here.

2) Polishing/Brightening Masks

Always handy to have one in your stash, these masks add the much needed brightness on dull skin days and oomph up the glow when you are heading out on special occasions. I have 2 in this category as well:

The Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (reviewed here) will always be an all time favourite of mine. It peels with AHAs, polishes the skin with aluminum oxide particles and exfoliates with pumpkin enzyme. In short, a physical exfoliator + chemical exfoliator in one. I apply a light layer, keep it on for 3-5 mintues, scrub gently and wash it off. It is my 3 minute fix before heading out and makes my skin soft and smooth like a baby's bum!
Mind you, this can be too intense/harsh on sensitive skin, so do a patch test before slathering it on.

A less intense version of the chemical action mask is the Gravitale Revitalizing Gel (reviewed here) which Smriti and I both love and cannot recommend enough. It claims to restore, revitalize, and rejuvenate the skin from the inside out and does that. It has AHAs, phenolic antioxidants and Vit C and leaves the skin bright, glowing and smooth.
It is a lot more gentle in comparison to the PTR Pumpkin mask and will suit sensitive skin better. Plus it is very affordable!

3) Treatment Mask

I am on the wrong side of 20s and I still have breakouts. Yeah! It is frustrating.
Though, the acne has cleared up drastically and now I experience the occasional 1-2 breakouts (that time of the month, if I have been eating way too much junk, not drinking enough water, exposing my face to dust nicely etc...)
Although the clarifying mud masks help overall, but something more targeted towards the issue helps even more.

The one mask that has stood out to me the most and has helped me immensely is the Kama Ayurveda Nimrah Anti Acne Face Pack. I cannot put a finger on it precisely, but this pack has natural and wonderful ingredients and works on me every time. I used to use this at least once a week earlier but now I use it maybe 2 times a month or more on the areas prone to breakouts (or even as a spot treatment when I feel a bump coming). I cannot recommend this enough! Available here.

So, these are my current top 5 picks from my stash (for now). I am always trying out new products so, maybe some more might get added in the list but a few of these will always...always be in my skincare routine.
Hope you liked the post.
