Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask : First Impressions

Innisfree recently launched on Nykaa, and we couldn't be more exicted! They have a store in Delhi, but unfortunately they haven't opened up in other cities yet which made their products pretty much inaccessible. Now that this issue has been solved, we finally tried out some products from the brand and will be reviewing them soon. Up today is the Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask.

It comes in a brown paper box. The actual tub is a cute round one with a copper screw on cap (I
love the embossed cap!)

"This clay mask with its super volcanic cluster capsules powerfully adsorbs sebum to intensively resolve pore concerns.
  • Jeju volcanic clay is made from minerals released by volcanic explosions in Jeju. It's categorized as a preserved alkaline resource and is effective in removing sebum and other impurities. (Contains 6,020 mg of Jeju volcanic clay).
  • As the capsule bursts, the mask exfoliates and removes dead skin cells. The AHA ingredient chemically exfoliates and smoothes out skin.
  • The strong absorption of sebum and cooling effect of the clay refreshes the skin and contracts pores."

The mask is grey and super thick. I feel like I  need some extra effort to apply it,i  spread however it does spread smoothly. The mask starts drying in around 5-7 minutes. I keep it on for about 10 mintues. It doesn't feel very stretchy. Since it is a deep cleansing clay mask, I am using it once a week. You can also use this mask as a spot treatment for breakouts or just over the nose, if you suffer from blackheads/whiteheads. I always follow it up with my regular skincare and focus on hydrating afterwards.

You can feel the particles (volcanic cluster capsules) while you apply the mask, though I would have liked some more of them distributed in the mask overall.

It works well when it comes to oil controlling. The pores look a bit smaller immediately after using the mask, but there are no long term permanent effects. My breakouts have come down considerably at the moment (thanks to the regular skincare routine), so I cannot comment on how it works on acne as of now (I will update you on this if it ever helps me)

Update : I don't think it is very effective as a spot treatment for breakouts. I would not use it as a spot mask.

It does make the face look clean, brighter, smoother and quite soft to touch afterwards. However, I feel it leaves my skin a little bit dry. Not a lot, but a bit drier than what I like. I am not a fan of that feeling.

Price : 1110 INR for 100 ml

Overall, I am not disappointed with this one so far. It is a good deep cleaning clay mask. I feel that the younger me with more oily skin would have liked it better.

Will I repurchase it? Probably not. My hunt for clay masks continues 😄
