We at C&D love highlighters! Smriti of course has a bit more affection towards them than me, but I love them too. Perfect to add a bit on glow to your skin and make it look fabulous, a good hihlighter is a must in every makeup stash!
I always found that there was a lack of good powder highlighters in the Indian drugstore, most of them being chalky or too glittery... which is why for a long time my go to highlighter was theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer (reviewed here). I still love it a lot and it will be a part of stash for years to come, but it is difficult to recommend it to people, especially if they are on a budget.
Naturally, I was very excited when Maybelline launched their Master Chrome highlighter here, having read good reviews about it already. Let's take a look, shall we?
The packaging hower could have a bit better. I find it slightly on the flimsy side and a bit difficult to open frankly. But then, if you consider the price, one really cant complain about it.
Oh, and I love the embossed pattern on it!
This is a powder highlighter, but the texture is smooth and buttery. It blends well on the skin and is insanely pigmented. There is no gritty or powdery feel to it. You can use a brush (for a more difussed look) or a finger (for a more pigmented intense look) to apply this.
If you have texture/open pores, they might get accentuated with this too, like most highlighter tend to do.
Molten Gold is a true gold color, neither too yellow not too silvery/ashy, and would suit medium-dark skintones the best. It doesn't have chunks of glitter, which is such a relief.
It isn't the most sublte highlighter out there, so if you prefer a natural look, then Molten Gold might not be the one for you.
I don't use this for everyday weat, but I love reaching out for it when I want a bit of a strong glow-y highlight.
I love theBalm Mary-Loumanizer (which is the only other powder highlighter in my collection at the moment, and with a light hand, I can use it as an everyday highlighter too) and here is a comparison swatch for you:
Top - Maybelline Molten Gold ; Below - theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
Price : 550 INR for 6.7g (can be usually found on discounts online)
If you want a good affordable highlighter then Maybelling Master Chrome in Molten Gold is worth a try! The formula is lovely, the color will suit most skin tones and the price is great!
It feels so good to have found a gorgeous budget highlighter finally! Highly recommended!

Swati
