Kama Ayurveda Pure Rosewater : Review

Written by: Swati on:

I am a huge rosewater fan! It was and always will be one of my holy grail products. Rose water without a doubt is one of the best natural toners ever. Not to forget its various other uses...carry it around and spray it on a hot day to frehsen up. It helps to hydrated the skin lightly. You can use it to mix your homemade facemasks.... multifunctional wonderful thing Rose Water I tell you!

For the longest time I was using the the Fab India Rose Facial Water, which still is one of the good affordable 100% steam distilled ones out there. I have gone through many bottles of that one. And then the beauty enthusiast in me wanted to try out the Kama Ayurveda Pure Rosewater (I am a Kama Ayurveda fan too you see...) and I have never looked back!

"KAMA Ayurveda Pure Rosewater is made from the roses of Kannauj, a region in North India, rich in white soil conductive to roses' growth. The Kannauj rose is considered special...it has the same specifications as the Bulgarian rose.
The steam water distillation process used to create this wonderful rosewater ensures a high level of hygiene and unmatched purity.
Rose water is a natural astringent. It balances and restores skin's PH level and helps tighten pores.
Rose water is also a good non-alcoholic toner. Kama rosewater is a good non-alcoholic refresher that helps remove the residue of the previous cleansing procedures such as removing of makeup. It refines the pores and tones the skin making it ready for moisturizing treatment. It can also be used to damp skin before applying Kama Natural Plant Mask (Lavanya) or Kama Miraculous Beauty Fluid (Kumkumadi).
Kama rosewater can also be used as an aftershave. Aftershaves are basically toners, however because most aftershaves are primarily made of alcohol and perfume, they damage the skin by disturbing the recovery of the mantle, which is destroyed by shaving soap and razor blade use."

The rosewater comes in a dark colored plastic bottle with a spray cap, which is perfect when you just want to lightly mist your face. (That's how I use it mostly. Applying it with a cotton swab leads to a lot of wastage and is more work).
It comes in a 50ml size which is so conveninent to carry around in your bag as well as the full size 200ml.

I use it in all of the ways I mentioned earlier. As a refreshing facial spray during the the day, as a toner after cleansing (morning/night), to mix my face masks, sometimes even as a makeup finishing spray. The fragrance is simply amazing and so natural. One light spray and it instantly refreshes you.

You might ask, why not use plain old Dabur Gulabari instead? Afterall it is priced around 40 Rupee right? Well, you might want to read the ingredients on that one, it contains rose oil as opposed to natural rose water along with added fragrance. Now that makes a huge difference. You will notice it the moment you use a good quality 100% steam distilled rose water.

Price : 250 INR for 50ml ; 875 INR for 200 ml ( available here )
Price update : 395 for 50ml ;1295 for 200 ml

While the Kama Ayurveda Rosewater is surely priced on the higher side (and it took me a while to finally get the courage to buy a full sized bottle), it was definitely worth the splurge. You can try the smaller size, if you are unsure. Skip the expensive foundation/concealer and invest in good skincare!
