Brand In Focus : GlamGlow

Written by: Swati on:

I'm back again with a Brand In Focus post and we're talking about GlamGlow today.

Since I have ordered their Supermud multiple times and minis of their other masks over the years...I have accumulated quite a few samples of other products in their line and I wanted to compile my thoughts on all of them in one place. So, if you have been wanting to check out GlamGlow products, I hope this post helps you decide which ones to try and which ones to avoid. Happy Reading!

1) Supermud Clearing Treatment (white)

This comes as no surprise to regular readers - Supermud is one of my all-time favourite face masks. I have a detailed post about it HERE. Essentially, it is a kaolin clay mask with chemical exfoliants -  mandelic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, glycolic acid. Depending on how my skin is feeling it functions as an all-over mask, or a t-zone mask on areas that are particularly oily, or as a spot treatment. I have been loving it for the past 3-4 years, it cleans & brightens my skin each time. My pores look refined (though temporarily, but I will take it) and my skin feels less congested.

If you want to try out something from the brand, this is my top pick!

I have gone through a couple of small 15 ml jars, one mega 100g tube and I am on my 2nd 100g tube. Is that proof enough of how much I love it? It is pricey, yes, and it breaks my heart....but it's very effective...on the plus side, the 100g tube lasts me a year easily. If you are considering getting it, I would recommend you to try the small tube first. I know that the small size doesn't work out to be cost-effective, but this mask can be quite strong (it tingles & it has some finicky ingredients as well like peppermint oil and fragrance), so it's better to be sure first.

2) Flashmud Brightening Treatment (orange)

GlamGlow review, GlamGlow India, GlamGlow review india, All Glamglow masks, Best of Glamglow, Glamglow Supermud, Glamglow thirtsymud, Glamglow Flashmud

A clay mask (kaolin) with both physical (pumice grains, diamond powder) & chemical exfoliants (lactic & salicylic acid)  in a cream base.

GlamGlow review, GlamGlow India, GlamGlow review india, All Glamglow masks, Best of Glamglow, Glamglow Supermud, Glamglow thirtsymud, Glamglow Flashmud

It definitely brightens thanks to the exfoliation, but I didn't particularly like this mask. It didn't give me the same results as Supermud in terms of brightness, the grains were a lot more abrasive than what I prefer and I faced mild irritation post use. If you don't have sensitive skin and if you like physical scrubs, then this might work for you. Although, there are better physical scrubs available as well. In case you really do want to try Flashmud, be cautious and do not rub too hard.

3) Thristymud Hydrating Treatment (blue)

GlamGlow review, GlamGlow India, GlamGlow review india, All Glamglow masks, Best of Glamglow, Glamglow Supermud, Glamglow thirtsymud, Glamglow Flashmud

It's a thick gel-like mask that feels slightly cooling on the skin. It has a very sweet, coconut + caramel-like fragrance, which I did not like at all...it's way too sweet for me. While this mask did not irritate my skin, it failed to impress me. I did not see a drastic difference and at this price point I was expecting it to perform a lot better. I would prefer building hydrating layers with other skincare products + using a good moisturizer any day and that would give better results.

It might work for very dry skins, but if you feel like indulging in a hydrating mask, there are better options out there. Can I point you in the direction of the I'm From Honey Mask which is absolutely divine?

4) Instamud (yellow)

I had a sample of this which I used up & I am sure that I did not throw it away, but I cannot locate it at all now, hence not pictured here :(

This is a foaming mask that claims to instantly refine pores & even out skin tone....in 60 seconds! What?! I was very intrigued by this and tested it out 2-3 times. It goes on as a smooth purple paste on the skin which starts bubbling in a few seconds. Before you know it 60 seconds are up and you wash it off. Does it show any results? Sure, the skin feels cleaner, tighter and the pores do look minimized. It's like all the oil & sebum has been sucked out. It left my combination skin feeling a touch drier than what I like & I think it will work better for very oily skins.

But, here's my issue - this result can be achieved by other clay masks too. Heck, Supermud does the same for me, and more! Yes, the mask is cute and playful but I don't see the point of it really. If I want cute and playful, I'd get a toy. Also, I fail to understand how the good ingredients in this mask aim to be beneficial in 60 seconds?!

I see the appeal and temptation for this mask, especially from skincare buffs, but it's really not worth the price and I will rather put my money on Supermud or other skincare products.

It starts out as a smooth cream that foams up with water. I used the sample tube for 2 weeks - it cleansed my skin nicely & took off the oil & sebum quite well...in fact too well, to the point that my combination skin was a touch stretchy & felt squeaky clean. (a feeling I am not too fond of). It will perform better for very oily skin and wasn't meant for me. That being said, it didn't cause any reactions which is good.

It is a good cleanser for oily skin if you want to splurge this amount on a cleanser.

Price : 2750 INR for 150g

6) Waterburst -Hydrated Glow Moisturizer

Claims to be a weightless water cream with a triple hyaluronic acid complex & gives 72 hours of continuous hydration.

I only got 3 uses out of the sample sachet, so this is just my first impression.

It's a light water gel, spreads well and feels very silicone-y to the touch. It plumps up the skin, doesn't feel heavy and the skin instantly feels very smooth due to the higher silicone concentration.
Does it provide 72 hr hydration? I don't know... I wash my face in the evening, as should you, so I didn't test out this claim. It has the same strong sweet fragrance as Thirstymud, which I didn't like.

Would I spend this much on a hyaluronic acid gel moisturizer? Nah. We have a lot of similar options in the market today.

Price : 3950 INR for 50ml Available HERE

7) Glowstarter - Mega Illuminating Moisturizer

GlamGlow review, GlamGlow India, GlamGlow review india, All Glamglow masks, Best of Glamglow, Glamglow Glowstarter review, Glamglow Glowstarter moisturizer

This is their moisturizer + illuminator in 1 - hyaluronic acid, green tea, illuminating pearls that reflect light and give a glow to the skin. They have 3 variants - I tried a sample of Pearl Glow (pearlescent white shade).

The cream is essentially a moisturizer + liquid highlighter in 1. And to me, this is more of a pre-makeup prep product, rather than an everyday moisturizer (unless you wear makeup every day & want a glowy dewy look). It can be worn alone, mixed with foundation or worn underneath foundation.

It's on the runny side, not too glittery or too shimmery. I couldn't see a blurring effect (as claimed) but it did give my skin a good sheen and glow (check the picture below to see the effect). It might not work for oily skin, but other than that it does what it's supposed to do. It can be used all over or can be used on selected areas & high points.

Glowstarter applied on the right half, normal skin on the left.
I hope you are able to see the illuminating effect it gives on the skin.

Will I purchase a full size? No. It's not an out-of-the-world kind of product. There are a ton of illuminating & hydrating primers available that give the same result and will be priced better.

Price : 1450 INR for 15ml

8) Bubblesheet Mask

This is an oxygenating sheet mask infused with charcoal that claims to deep cleanse, remove makeup and provide glow & purify skin in 3 minutes.

GlamGlow review, GlamGlow India, GlamGlow review india, All Glamglow masks, Best of Glamglow, Glamglow Bubblesheet review, Glamglow Bubblesheet Mask

I don't know if it removes makeup or not, I didn't try it that way. Did the mask wow me? No.

Listen now, it's just one of those trendy skincare things that you put and make a tik-tok or take selfies in....coz yes, it is fun when the microbubbles start forming. But apart from that what does it do? It has green tea & some ascorbyl glucoside, but I rather use a serum or something that has these ingredients which stays on the skin for longer. Doesn't that make more sense?

There's nothing here to harm your skin, but nothing to give you amazing benefits either. Now if you want to still try it out and take a video, then sure, go ahead. But I would suggest that you spend the money on better things, maybe even the mini Supermud, which will give you 3-4 applications easily.

Price : 720 INR for 1 sheet Available HERE

And with that my friends, I am done with the Glamglow reviews. I hope this was helpful. Clearly, there is one winner for me, some are okayish, others are duds. Yes, I feel that the brand is pricey, yes there are similar products out there that are priced better. Supermud is a winner for me and one of my favourites, so I will continue to repurchase that until I come across something even better. The rest are a pass for me.

xoxo,
Swati
