Two Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipsticks: Review
Written by: Smriti on:
One of the brands I love the most amongst all is
Maybelline with its variety of products at such affordable prices. Totally
budget-friendly for a student like me. Half of my makeup stash is dominated by
it! Hmm...maybe I should do an exclusive Maybelline post. But coming back to
the review...
The Moisture Extreme range of lipsticks from Maybelline
are by far the best in their class, with inbuilt lip balm, SPF 15, and a good
number of 16 shades. With their buttery smooth texture and great pigmentation
these have quickly become my favourite! I picked two everyday wear shades from
the array, B41 Chestnut, and B42 Buff.
The lipstick comes housed in a metallic orange beige case, which closes with a click. No worries about chucking it into your handbag. But the pretty finish doesn’t last long as the case is quite prone to scratching.

Texture wise, these lippies glide effortlessly on the
lips. There is absolutely no tugging whatsoever. Also, I have dry lips, and
have never felt the need to wear a lip balm beneath them. Granted the moisture
extreme range isn’t the most hydrating one in the market, but at this price, it
doesn’t get better. The staying power is average and ranges from 2.5 to 4
hours, depending on how much snacking I do, but to their credit, they fade
evenly. Buff even leaves behind a slight stain, so you don’t end up with naked
lips in the middle of a party. These lipsticks do not settle into fine lines.
The red background really brings out the red undertone of Buff (on right) |
Chestnut- This is a creamy pink, which makes your teeth look whiter. I can't exactly pinpoint the undertone of it- it's definitely cool. I can discern mauve hues under flash and coral ones in sunlight! It's just one of those chameleon shades. Depending on your lip coloration and lighting the colour turns out differently, but I can guarantee that it will look gorgeous, whichever tone it takes! If applied with a lighter hand, it makes a great everyday shade. Chestnut will suit fair to medium skintones best.
Buff- This is a very flattering coral based pink, with brownish red undertones. It will suit most skintones, being warm. On my lips, it turns out more reddish pink than dusty coral because my lip colour leans towards pink. It makes my teeth look slightly yellow, but in spite of that it is a shade that I absolutely love, and one that you can consider adding to your collection.
