We shared a DIY Plumping Lip Scrub a really long time back and while that is super effective, one needs a more nourishing one now that the weather is getting chilly. So here's an super nourishing DIY Lip Scrub that takes 10 seconds to make, does it's job and leaves your lips super soft! :)
- Coconut oil
- Granulated sugar
Honey is effective in lightening and softening the lips naturally (ever lips get dark due to age/external factors).
Coconut oil prevents cracked lips. It works as a powerful emollient and creates a barrier to lock in the moisture.
Just take a pinch of the granulated sugar (the kind that you get in sachets, which is super fine) and add in a drop of the coconut oil (you can use almond oil too) and a bit of honey.
Mix it all together until it becomes a coarse paste. Pat it on and scrub your lips gently for about a minute. Let the mixture sit on your lips for 4-5 minutes to allow all the goodness to seep in.
Do not go overboard with the scrubbing! Wash it off and top the lips with some lip balm.
That's all. Now enjoy soft nourished lips and you are ready to apply that matte lipstick without any fear of dry flakes! :)
A few more tips:
- Don't mix the paste too much or else the sugar will start dissolving and the scrub won't remain as effective.
- Never use a lip scrub on extremely dry and/or chapped lips. Heal them first and then proceed to getting rid of the flakes.
- Scrubbing takes off the most superficial layer of your skin. Protect the underlying fresh skin by following up with lip balm religiously.
- Never over scrub...it's not a vessel :P
Let me know if you try it out! :)
