Makeup Revolution #Liphug Lipstick Love Can Set You Free : Review

Written by: Smriti on:

Even though I was late to jump onto the bandwagon, I've fallen hard for gel based lustrous lip products. Traditional lipsticks with their creamy/waxy textures never got me excited a lot, and for a long time I was a 'lipgloss-but-blotted' kinda girl. Now that I've found a HG lipstick texture to go by, I can't resist trying out different shades!

So... Love Can Set You Free. Trust me when I say it's all kinds of ah-may-zing!

Packaging wise, the #LipHug lipsticks are not stellar. The bullet is cased in a golden and black tube with a plain black cap. I'll tell you from experience that Makeup Revolution products aren't exactly super sturdy, so be careful while travelling and don't jostle them around in your purse much.

Coming to the texture, it's a balmy gel based lipstick and packs good amount of pigmentation. The lustre finish on the lips is, for me, to die for! The slight sheen of it makes my lips look plump and juicy, a very healthy pout to be precise. I never require a lip-balm underneath the #LipHug lipsticks, neither do I feel its need after they wear off. After staying for 3 hours, it leaves my lips quite soft and moisturised.

The shade itself is a muted pink nude which adapts to my natural lip tone like a dream. What makes this possible is the hint of sheerness in the #LipHug lipsticks, which allows your lip colour to peek through. This is the stuff that holds your 'no-makeup' look together. With Love Can Set You Free, I strut the halls of my college with so much confidence! It makes me look as fresh as a daisy, and effortlessly chic!

If you've seen my previous post about Bare Beige by Lakme and are wondering if I've used the same lip swatch by mistake, well I haven't! :D Both these lipsticks come shockingly close in terms of texture, colour and pigmentation. Close enough to be dupes I'd say. To pull out the slightest difference, Bare Beige is more beige-y while this comes with more pink tones. Love Can Set You Free matches the inside of my lips perfectly as you can see in the swatch. Bare Beige however, is still detectable, with the inside of my bottom lip appearing pinker in the swatch.
