Makeup Revolution #LIPHUG Lipstick Save Me From Yourself : Review

Written by: Smriti on:

When I fell hard for the Lakme Gloss Addict lipsticks, I began searching for products similar to it as the price largely exceeded my student budget, but I was having little luck. One such day I happened to stumble across the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks and boy, were they awesome! And since Urban Decay is again out of reach, I began searching for its dupes. Imagine my surprise when one of favorite brands held the solution to my search! Yes, Makeup Revolution has done it again, and I think I'm quickly gonna achieve brand ambassador status :P

#LipHugs.. where were you all my life?!

Coming in 20 saturated hues, these lipsticks come in every colour you could wish for. Reds, oranges, pinks, maroons, nudes, sab hai ji! Before I do the bhaanda phod, I think regular readers must have rightly guessed what shade I chose.
Yes. it's a nude. I think I'm losing my surprise element here no?

The thing is, the more I've gotten into sporting nude lippies, the more I've come to understand how the slightest change of undertones can change your entire look. Coffee Command, for example, won't go with a purple smokey eye. Similarly, a mauve MLBB like Tea Break won't go with a red outfit. And that's my lame excuse to keep shopping. Beauty junkies, please back me up!

The liphugs are extremely similar to the Gloss Addict range, the bullets come in the same flat-topped shape, the texture is that same balmy one, with a lustre finish. To be very critical, I'd say that the Gloss Addict bullets are a bit softer and a teensy bit creamier. The Liphugs are more pigmented and gel like. The colour you get on your lips is a beautiful a sheer wash.

Makeup Revolution says this range is high shine, long lasting, and gives smooth & sculpted lips.
A new high shine formula featuring an array of creamy emollients, providing a lasting, glossy finish that leaves lips smooth and sculpted. The unique gel base allows the shade to smooth effortlessly onto the skin, with a feather light finish giving immediate moisture, lasting up to six hours.

Save me from yourself is a orange toned nude caramel. Under a different light, it takes on a more terracotta tint, but looks fabulous both ways. I can work this with almost any ethnic dress and the warmth really suits my skin tone. I think we've all been in that place where we drool over those baby pink nudes that look look so effortlessly glam on Youtubers around the world. The sad part is, pulling them off on warm olive Indian skin is impossible. But there are no such worries with Save Me From Yourself. It was a blind buy for me, and it turned out just fine!

Below - One swipe, Above - Two swipes

The staying power is 3 hours which can be stretched to 4 if you're careful with snacking. This lipstick doesn't require a lip balm beneath, nor does it leave a tint behind, which makes reapplication a dream. I just go swiping through the day! The moisturization is good and even though I have dry lips, they never feel dry while I have the lipstick on, or after it fades off. The feather-light finish part also, is true. You'll forget you have anything on your lips! I swear I've had lip balms which felt heavier!

Another thing to mention here is that initially the bullet may feel a little hard, but after a few swipes it melts to a nice formula that goes onto the lips without tugging. I'm a fan. Even my Mom is a fan, which is why I'll be gifting her one :)

Price : 550 INR for 4.2g

I'm definitely recommeding #LipHugs to all of you. Although I love my Bare Beige to a fault, the higher price just makes for better packaging. Formula wise, they're very close dupes. Very very close. I've also seen a few videos in which they're compared to Bobbi Brown's Sheer Lipsticks. I haven't got the faintest idea on those, so I'll leave you to your good judgement :) Oh, and the Glossy Addicts were very similar to Inglot's Slim Gel lipsticks, so if you're searching for alternatives to any of those.. well #LipHugs are your answer. Talk about finding the king of all dupes.

Also talk about my stupidity in discovering them soooo late! -_- I'm embarrassed, people!
