L'oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Tender Berry : Review

Written by: Smriti on:

A few days back L'oreal Paris India was having a contest on Facebook, and I entered it. Little did I know that I would win! It came as such a surprise (I hardly ever win at any contest you see... horrible luck). But for the first time I did! Yaaaaay! L'oreal sent over my gift really soon and there was more joy when I saw that they had sent Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Tender Berry. There were so many good things I had heard about L'oreal lipsticks that i really wanted to try one for myself.Thank you L'oreal! You made my day!  :)
Here's a quick review and a few swatches :

What L'oreal Paris says about the product:
Infallible lipstick is a luxurious, comfortable, long wear lip color. Offers up to 10 hours of vivid-high definition color. The Le Rouge Infallible range comprises of 12 stunning shades.
• Color bond technology: Captures and fixes color on the lips for upto 10 hours of vivid-high definition color and shine
• Vitamin E: Keeps lips moist and comfortable
• Creamy, conditioning base: Allows application without flaking or fading

The lipstick comes in a transparent and silver packaging which is sturdy. The cap closes with a good tight click, so yes, it is travel friendly. The cap top is a bright metallic red which looks really nice and the tube has a coloured label on the the other end with the shade name and number. The coloured label helps a lot to identify the shade *thumbs up* (Although the packaging is good overall, I just wish that it was better, something more prettier, but thats just my opinion...I like prettily packaged products more :P). The bullet is thinner in diameter than the other general lipsticks and this makes it relatively easy to apply the lipstick straight from the tube.

Coming to the texture, the lipstick is not super buttery soft and it would not be sane to expect that since it is a long stay lip colour, but yes it is quite smooth and creamy enough to apply easily :) It is insanely pigmented and one good swipe is good enough to give you the true colour. *totally love the pigmentation*
Now the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear that a lipstick is the long staying kinds, is "Oh no.. this is going to be drying". I thought so too.. but then this is so not! It really is amazing to find a non drying long stay lip colour! Yes it does get just a little bit dry after 4 hours or so, but just a bit of lipbalm and you are good to go again. However, I would not suggest you to apply this on completely un-moisturized lips. You know to cannot get away with dry lips and a long lasting lipstick right?

Swatches under different lights
Left- One really light swipe (I use it like a lip tint that way); Right- Two good swipes

It gives a semi matte finish to the lips which I like. About the 10 hour claim, well for me it stayed for around 6-7 hours. You will notice slight fading after hour 4 ( you can touch up a bit if you want to), but it does not go off completely. It is relatively transfer proof (you can have some fun with the guy without worrying.. ahem) and survives meals too. The colour fades evenly (Thank God!) and there is no flaking or staining or that bad stretchy feeling you get with most of the long lasting formulas.

Tender Berry (519) is a light mauve with pink tones to it. I love to wear it this as a lip tint mixed with some lip balm for a soft pink colour. The colour is slightly cool toned but do not fear...It will go well with warm skin tones too (till NC 40 easily). It is a beautiful mauve pink that is great for everyday wear, subtle enough but still giving a nice splash of colour to your face. The only drawback is the high price. It is definitely not a budget buy, but if you do not have a problem with that and if you are looking for a pretty pinky mauve shade then yes, you must check this one out!

Have you tried the Infallible Lipsticks yet? What do you think of them?

P.S. I did some research and apparently Tender Berry is said to be a dupe of MAC Brave lipstick. Now, I have not tried Brave yet, but you can see the comparison pictures here. I think they look exactly the same! Although Tender Berry is almost in the same price category as MAC, but in case you have any one of them, you do no need to get the other :D
