DIY Green Tea Face Mask

You all know that I am a huge fan of using natural homemade ingredients for making masks, scrubs etc. And what better day than Sunday to pamper yourself with some fresh goodness?

A few weeks back I had Instagrammed a Green tea facemask which you all liked a lot. So here's what went into it :)

Green tea has numerous health and beauty benefits. Along with aiding in weigt loss it works brilliantly to detoxify your skin. It is rich in antioxidants which help your skin in treating acne, scars and is good for reducing the wrinkles. They fight against the free radicals which cause premature aging due to sun exposure. It is antibacterial and deals with acne. Green tea brightens and soothes your skin. It also reduces tan, sun burns and helps in the formation of new cells.
Sounds pretty much like a perfect ingredient to incorporate into your beauty regime doesn't it? Let's get started!

Ingredients :
Green tea (tea bag) - 1
Gram Flour - 1 teaspoon
Fullers Earth - 1/2 teaspoon
Sandalwood powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Turmeric - a pinch
Rose Water - to combine all ingredients

Soak a tablespoon of green tea leaves in lukewarm water for about a minute or two. You can cut open a tea bag & use the leaves as well. I prefer using loose green tea leaves (it's the more environmental friendly option).

Add Gram flour, turmeric, fuller's earth and sandalwood powder and a bit of rose water (optional). Make a paste in a consistentcy that  stays on easily. (This mask can be a bit messy to apply).
Put it on for 10-15 minutes. You don't need to dry it completely. About 70-80% dry is good enough.
To take off the mask - Wet it by splashing some water,  rub it off using gentle circular motions (the leaves act as a gentle exfoliant) and wash your face throughly with cold water. Done!
Follow it up with your skincare & sit back and enjoy smooth supple skin.

I have oily-combination acne prone skin, and this mask works really well for my skin.

How to customize the mask according to your skin type :

  • OILY SKIN  - use this mask with curd, honey or rose water. Whichever is available & whichever you prefer.
  • DRY SKIN - can mix the mask with mashed banana, milk cream (malai), honey or raw milk. And can skip Fuller's earth.
  • You can even add in some green tea leaves in your favourite homemade facemask for an added boost!

Please note :  If you are allergic to any of above mentioned ingredients, do avoid incorporating it.

That's all for today! Keep glowing! :)
