Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick - Orange Icon, Red Rush : Review & Swatches

Written by: Swati on:

A girl can never have too many lipsticks! Well...we can never have too much makeup actually :D
Spending a lot on makeup makes anyone feel guilty every now and then, but what when good makeup comes at affordable prices? Bring it on then!

So, last week I finally got got to try the Maybelline Colorshow Lipsticks! Which I am sure, by now you all know are all the rage now :)

The packaging is quite simple, black tube with a central colored band to represent the color family of the shade. There is a sticker below with the shade name and number. The cap shuts tight with a click. Quite a practical packaging, nothing fancy.

The formula of these lipsticks is quite smooth and creamy. They glide easily and feel light on the lips. Pigmentation differs from shade to shade. Some are beautifully pigmented buy certain shades like Orange Icon go on sheer.
Since they are quite creamy, they transfer a lot and last for around 3 hours.
The lipsticks have a very sweet candy like fragrance, which I surprisingly liked, but might be a little too much for sensitive noses.

Orange Icon - A soft orange leaning towards coral. It looked super bright orange in the tube (and I was sure I would hate it) but it turned out so different on the lips and it makes for a pretty summery shade!
Needs at least 2 swipes for the color to show up. The final look is a sheer but juicy pout.

Red Rush - A bright warm red. Will look good on most skin tones. (Quite a Indian bridal red, isn't it?). The pigmentation is great with this one. One swipe is all you need for intense color. This shade is bold, and packs a real punch! It also leaves a nice tint. Has a tendency to feather a little, using a lip liner below will be a good idea.

Swatches - Orange Icon (Left) and Red Rush (Right)

Price : 299 INR for 3.9g

The Maybelline Color Show lipsticks are one of the best budget lipsticks available in India. They have a good formula, stay a decent amount of time for the price and with 32 shades in different color families, there is something for everyone! Plus you wouldn't feel too guilty about indulging in more than one color ;) Show off with these babies, they're definitely worth it!
