Vilvah Aloe vera Gel

Aloe there!! 👋 How are you all doing? I am talking about my very first product from Vilvah today - their Aloe Vera Gel. Happy reading!

Aloe vera is such a versatile ingredient - sensitivity anywhere on the skin? Got sunburnt? Aloe vera soothes. Need relief after shaving or waxing? Slather some aloe gel on. Need to add some hydration to the skin?  Or got a light burn? Aloe vera to the rescue... it has so many benefits and is probably one of those common ingredients that almost every household has by now. My mom has been growing pots & pots of Aloe on her terrace for many years and always has fresh aloe gel - made to order :D

Unfortunately, my skin doesn't respond too well to the fresh gel. I get rashes & itching. I also stay away from home and don't have the talent my mom has when it comes to growing the actual plants. So I stick to using pre-made aloe vera gel.
I have been using the Face Shop Jeju Aloe Gel on my body for many years & will continue to do so. That has a lighter texture, spreads well and absorbs into nothingness. But I wanted something better to use on my face  - mainly as a medium for face massages (more on that some other day).  Since I had heard a lot of good things about the Vilvah Aloe gel, I decided to give it a go. Heads up, all the good things said about it are true :)

Made using the pure pressed aloe vera gel using cold stabilisation method which leads to premium aloe vera gel and the quality is unmatchable with the patented method of manufacturing by sealing the nutrients intact. The multi-purpose aloe vera gel carries a multitude of benefits as a skin moisturiser, prevents acne, softens hair and promotes glowing skin.

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe vera) juice, Xanthum gum, Guar Gum, Geoguard ECT (Ecocert/Cosmos approved natural preservative)

Shelf Life:  8 months from the date of manufacture

  • Thumbs up for the packaging - the aluminium tin looks cute & is better than plastic.
  • The gel itself is colourless (try not to buy those green coloured aloe gels please), fragrance-free & cold pressed.
  • It has a lovely thick jelly texture (just to give you an idea.... it won't fall out if you tilt the tin. Don't try it though. I have done it, carefully, so take my word for it).
  • It spreads well on the skin, feels cooling, is not heavy to sticky once absorbed (store it in the fridge to make it feel more refreshing in the summer) and will suit all skin types, unless you are allergic to the ingredient. Do a patch test if you haven't used any aloe gel before, just to be sure.
  • Pro Tip : Aloe gel is hydrating but if you want to use it as a moisturizer, I would recommend using something on top to seal it otherwise it can make the skin feel drier. Use it the same way you would a hyaluronic acid = damp skin - aloe gel - moisturizer.
  • It can be used in all the ways Aloe Vera Gel can be used - on the skin, hair, to mix face masks etc. I have not used it on my hair yet, as I solely bought this to use on the face, but the quality is good and I am guessing it would work well on the scalp too.
  • I have combination skin prone to congestion & breakouts - and while the gel directly from the plant doesn't suit me, the Vilvah gel has not broken me out. Do keep in mind though, that I do not use it every day and whenever I do, I keep it for about half an hour.

If you are looking for a good quality aloe vera gel you can definitely look into this. It might be priced higher than the ones we get at the supermarket, but the quality is very good and I will be repurchasing it once my tub gets over for using it on my face :)

I will also continue to use the Face Shop aloe gel on the body since that is more economical (don't judge me :D)

xoxo,
Swati

P.S. I am not sure how well aloe gel will be able to treat acne, considering acne is a medical condition and treatment can differ from person to person depending on the cause. It can help some but do run it by your dermatologist once.
