Neemli Naturals Rose & Patchouli Facial Toner

Written by: Swati on:

More often than not, I stick to products that have been working for me.  I know I write & run a beauty blog, but I am very hesitant to try out new stuff when it comes to skincare. So, if I find a product that works for me I repurchase it over & over again. But sometimes, curiosity gets the better of me & I give in to temptation. It's rare but it happens.... and I try out something new.

This is what happened with the Neemli Rose & Patchouli Facial Toner. I had been using rose water for many years & had found my holy grail in the Kama Ayurveda Rose Water (I have sung enough praises about it already) and I truly did not need to try any new ones out there.  But then I saw the Neemli Rose & Patchouli Facial Toner - the packaging looked super pretty and I thought to myself "hmmm....why not give this a go for a change....it can't really hurt too much, can it?"

Let's see how this impulse buy played out!

What the brand says:
Neemli Naturals Rose & Patchouli Facial Toner is a rich floral blend which helps hydrate, tighten pores, restore pH balance and tone skin. The first step to your beauty regime, this toner has a base of pure, steam-distilled rose water which is a natural astringent and helps tighten pores. Patchouli water helps fight against early signs of ageing. Aloe vera's natural humectant properties make it extremely hydrating, while witch hazel water helps fight against pollution-related dark spots.
This Neemli Naturals Facial Toner is a fragrance-free, alcohol-free natural toner without any of those pesky fillers.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Patchouli Water, Rose (Rosa Damascena) Water, Propanediol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate (Paraben Alternative), Aloe Vera Extract, Witch Hazel Water

The bottle of course looks luxe - which is what tempted me to get it :D
Brown glass with a spray pump which was originally packed in a cylindrical cardboard box. The look & feel of the bottle is nice.

Here's where the good part ends for me.

  • Firstly, the mist doesn't really smell of rose, to me the patchouli smell overpowers the rose bit, and I am not a fan of patchouli fragrances. It was a mistake on my part actually because one look at the ingredients list shows that patchouli is the 2nd ingredient followed by rose - which means that the concentration of patchouli will be more.
  • Secondly, this mist gave me tiny rashes. The first time I used it my skin felt ever so slightly different,  a bit tight and a tiny bit itchy. I should have suspected this toner but I didn't. I used it for a week until it finally hit me that I was getting tiny rashes on my skin and weird texture all over.  And it was because of this toner which was the only new thing in my routine. It must have been due to the other ingredients in the formula because my skin really likes plain steam distilled rose water otherwise.

Price : 675 INR for 100 ml

Will I repurchase it? Nope!
Using a face mist is a relaxing refreshing experience for me and this toner/mist did not make my skin feel good whenever I used it. Moreover, it made my skin feel itchy & gave me rashes. It's a hard pass for me.
