Colorbar Smokin’ Eyes Smudger Brush : Review

Written by: Swati on:

When colorbar lauched these super cute looking makeup brushes I wanted to get them badly, but then I got mixed reviews about them and you know how that fills you with doubt? Over time, getting them slipped out of my mind until recently when I started experimenting with different eye looks and shadows (yes, earlier I stuck to one colour all over the lids.. simple and easy :D ). Which brings me to the review today, the Colorbar Smokin' Eyes Smudger Brush :)

These brushes come in  their own resealable plastic pouches (thoughtful). A sleek white handle and black ferrule with bright (in this case orange) colourful bristles make the brushes look so fun and quirky! I should say that this is probably the feature that attracts us most to them :D We loved the look! Plus these brushes are very light and the size is neither too small nor too large (refer pic below) making them really easy to travel with.

The brush is a small rounded dome shaped one with densely packed synthetic bristles which are moderately soft. It is stiff but it is not harsh or scratchy. The well packed bristles pick up a good amount of shadow and the brush works well for smudging kohl on your lower lashline/liner on the upper lid and applying highlighter at the inner corner of the eye (basically areas where you need precise application).
If you do need a more professional look and more precise smudging then yes, you will need something better than this (MAC, Coastal Scents..you know).
I have washed this brush a lot of times now and I have not experienced any shedding of bristles or colour fading. The only issue is since the brush is that the bristles stain back (which is sad. I wished it remained bright orange forever).

I used to use Qtips/cotton buds before for any smudging and this brush makes the job so much easier now. Now, this is my first smudger brush so I have nothing to compare it to.. like the famous MAC 219 (hopefully I will have that in my kit someday), but for now this does the job quite well and I am happy with it :)

Price: 250 INR ( available here )
