L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder : Review

Written by: Swati on:

I do not like base makeup....okay scratch that. I did not like doing base makeup before I came across L'Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder.
Previously, all I stuck too was neutral eye makeup, some color on the lips and on certain occasions (very very rarely) a BB cream. That's all I could tolerate. So, I never invested in a foundation.
But somehow, when L'Oreal launched this one in India, I couldn't help but get it asap. I do not what made me do that...but it's one of those times where implusive buys just work out! In a few words, this foundation is really one to watch! Read on to know more :)

"Nude Magic is a light-weight daily use foundation that gives your skin that perfect nude glamorous finish with a magic, feathery texture. It leaves your skin even and perfectly radiant with zero imperfections. Available in 6 shades.Nude Magic contains light oils for perfect coverage and a velvety touch. It boasts of an airy, lighter-than-water formula that spreads 2x more than regular foundations giving your skin room to breathe and yet giving it a flawless finish.
Shake well before use and gently turn the bottle upside down. Wait till the right amount of Nude Magic falls on your fingertips and then blend it in to your skin. The light liquid spreads evenly, gets easily absorbed and leaves a beautiful, talc-like finish. "

Packaging :
I like the compact half frosted glass bottle which isn't too big and can be carried around easily. The only drawback is the lack of a dispenser which makes it a bit of a hassle to use since the product is very fluid. This makes it very difficult to control the amount of product dispensed. But if you use the product as directed, it isn't much of a problem. The opening does get a bit messy (as you can see in the photo below)

Texture & Finish :
It has a very very light texture (almost watery), weightless feel and a beautiful velvety silky finish. The liquid is so easy to blend in and it spreads well. Goes on so smoothly...so blendable!!
My fingers work perfectly (I have not used a brush yet). It does not give a too matte or a too dewy finish. More like a satin silken finish which I like. It can a get a bit oily after around 4 hours (on certain days) but a powder touchup takes care of that.
It might not work very well for dry skinned women, as it does have a slight tendency to cling to dry patches on my skin (if I have any).

Coverage :
The coverage is low-low medium. It covers minor spots and blemishes and a bit of my under eye area but you cannot expect it to cover any major blemishes or major under eye circles. If you have a very problematic skin and if you are looking for heavier coverage, then I suggest you skip this one...or you would need a good concealer to make this work. It is great for everyday wear. Since it does have spf 18, it isn't the best one for flash photography.
It won't give you a perfect looking foundation, but it will give you even skin and natural looking finish (you're getting me right?)

Shades :
The shade range is good. Most are yellow toned and would suit Indian skin tones well. My shade is 320 Natural Beige (according to the SA it was 318 Natural Buff but I could easily see where I had applied that one whereas 320 disappears nicely). The foundation is available in 6 shades in India
316 Nude Beige
318 Natural Buff
320 Natural Beige
328 Sun Beige
330 Soft Sable
332 Classic Tan

Staying Power :
Okay, so this surprised me so much. It wears for around 7-8 hours easily on me! And it does not come off if you sweat. So so surprised! Oh and happy :D

Overall I am very impressed with this one! It delivers the claims made and works well with my skin type (oily-combination, well behaved at the moment). If you have oily to combination skin, like light weight foundations that give you a natural, my skin but better look then this is one product you should definitely check out!
However, if you expect a super coverage for more skin concerns or have very dry skin, then give this a miss.
The bottle opening could have been better, but I am ready to compromise on this since I finally found a foundation that works for me. Definitely repurchasing this one!
