Wella Oil Reflections : Review
Written by: Swati on:
For a while now I had been facing severe hair issues. Hairfall, dry ends, dry scalp etc. I had them all. I don't know what was going wrong. Maybe it was the shampoo I was using, maybe it was the dry weather here. But it was bad!
This Wella Oil Reflections Smoothening Treatment came at a right time for me to test it out. Let us know how this one fared on my hair :)
I had been a loyal user of my L'Oreal serum for years now. A new hair serum was a welcome change. Moreover I had not tried anything from Wella so far, so I was very intrigued!

Direction for Use: Apply 1-2 pumps to the palms of the hands , distribute evenly throughout the mid-length and ends. Multi-use: Apply on damp hair for smoothening and suppleness or on dry hair for beautiful shine reflection. Do not rinse out
The product comes packed in a plastic box. The bottle is glass and it is bulky and although it looks pretty nice sitting on the dresser, one absolutely cannot travel with this. There is a pump dispenser which is convenient to use.
I must say I was a bit disappointed to see that it contains silicones and alcohol. On the positive side it has coconut, avocado and macadamia oils (I would have been happier if the percentages of each ingredient was given though).
I am not too fond of the fragrance... It somewhat smells like a sweet cough syrup to me (maybe it's just my nose... :/). The smell does linger though which is a good thing. The serum is a clear slightly oily liquid which spreads well between the palms and on the hair. The pump dispenses adeqaute amount and for my medium length hair one pump is sufficient. The bottle contains 100ml which will last a reeaaally long time.
It does make my hair very smooth (courtesy the silicones) and tangle free . I feel it works much better on damp hair (I tired it on dry hair and it made my hair limp). As with most of the hair serums, it helps control moderate frizz and flyaways (I do not have a lot of frizz). It did not give much noticable shine to my hair though. On the brighter side, it does not weigh down my hair, provided I use the appropriate amount. This serum comes in very handy when I am in a rush and do not time to apply conditioner, or when my hair ends feel a little drier than usual.
I have been using this for about 3 weeks now, and so far I can say that the serum has not provided any remarkable improvement. Most of the effects are temporary, but in all fairness, it is the same with 99% of serums.
Price: Rs.850 for 100ml
It is not a must try in my opinion, most of the things it does can be accomplished by other hair serums as well. It works well on damp hair to make it more managable and smooth. So, if you are on the lookout for a hair serum that does not weigh down your hair and if you are in a the mood to splurge a little, or to try something other than the usual drugstore serums, you could check this one out :)
