Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser

Here's the thing - once I find products that work well for me, I stick to using & repurchasing them over and over again. That's why it took me so long to try out the Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser. I wasn't really looking to try out new face washes but happened to do some random scrolling on the phone late one night and one week later the Rovectin cleanser came home :D

I've been wanting to speak about it just after a week of using it, but I wanted to test it out thoroughly before I penned down my thoughts. So after using this cleanser almost every day for 5 months, here's what I think. Let's dive in!
Usually, I am very apprehensive while trying out new skincare but that didn't happen when I first decided to use this cleanser. I felt a lot more confident especially because Rovectin was created out of the desire to help those undergoing cancer treatments- addressing the dryness and skin barrier deterioration that can often come with that battle. Their products have an overall theme to soothe, support & help repair the skin barrier.

What the brand says : Rovectin Conditioning Cleanser is a gentle, low-pH, hydrating cleanser. It safely washes away daily grime without stripping your skin of its protective moisture barrier. The best part? No more tight skin after cleansing. Our Conditioning Cleanser has no artificial fragrance, but you will notice a light coconut scent from a natural coconut oil derivative. The cleanser is low-pH, helping to balance the skin at its healthy pH range of 4.5—6.5. This cleanser is a suitable face wash for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and can be used daily. 100% free from paraben, artificial colorants, artificial fragrances, mineral oil, and steroids.

Ingredients : Water, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, decyl glucoside, glycerin, sodium chloride, citric acid, hyaluronic acid, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, centella asiatica extract, propanediol, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, disodium edta, glycine, 1,2-hexanediol, serine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, protease, leucine, alanine, lysine, arginine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, threonine, proline, valine, isoleucine, vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, histidine, cysteine, methionine, ethylhexylglycerin, leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate, potassium benzoate, peg-120 methyl glucose trioleate

The transparent plastic bottle with a pump is very convenient.

It's a clear water-based gel cleanser that doesn't have any added fragrance. However, the gel itself smells slightly weird to me, somewhat plastic-ky? Sometimes I feel it smells like a swimming pool 😅I am not a fan of it and it took me about a get used to it. Since I have been using it for many months now,  the smell doesn't bother me too much and I tolerate it better. If you are wearing long-wear heavy waterproof makeup or sunblock, make sure to use an oil/balm/micellar water/makeup remover first to break that down.

I find half pump enough to work up a really nice lather & clean my face. The lather is not the dense fluffy kind but a lighter soft bubbly foam, which I don't mind at all. The cleanser washes off well leaving no residue behind. The best quality of the cleanser is that it is not at all drying, You know that tight uncomfortable stretchy feeling which makes you want to rehydrate the skin with products within 3 seconds of washing? This does not do that. The cleanser leaves my skin feeling clean but comfortable post wash. I didn't get any irritation or breakouts with it.

Price : 1549 INR for 175ml

I love that it has straightforward claims (no frills or empty promises) and does what a cleanser is supposed to do well -  Be gentle on the skin, clean effectively without stripping the skin, which in turn keeps the skin barrier healthy. I feel that almost all skin types will get along with it, but it will work especially well for dry, dehydrated & sensitive skin types. It is on the expensive side, but only a small amount of the gel is needed for each use so one bottle will see you through at least 5 months easily. Try grabbing it on sale & discounts, I've already repurchased it :)

* Update : Rovectin has recently reformulated the cleanser.
  • One of the ingredients Protease was obtained from fish scale before but the new version is a vegan formula
  • People had reported a discolouration issue over time (due to light & temperature sensitivity). This discolouration issue has been fixed in the newer formula
I am yet to try out the new version, but from the photos I saw online, the newer bottle looks less transparent & I read that the gel feels slightly thicker now.
