Tresemme Split Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner : Review

Written by: Swati on:

There is something with me and shampoos, I am always tempted to try a new one even, everytime I finish using the current bottle being used, even if the older one leaves my hair quite good. I do repurchase a few times, if I find something that works fabulously with my hair. In short, I have tried a lot of shampoos so far.
Anyone else who does this too?
So yes, when I recieved samples of the new Tresemme Split Remedy, I couldn't wait to try it!

*I have an oily scalp and my hair is a bit on the drier side but not frizzy.*
Finding a shampoo that makes my hair look good without turing my scalp super oily on day 2 and my hair super limp is a tough thing to do. I had been using the Tresemme Hair fall control (I am losing hair like crazy!) before this and it was working well (will review that soon too).
But for now let me talk about my experience with the Split Remedy range :

The shampoo comes in a (typical tresemme) black bottle with green accents and the conditioner in a white one. Both have a green press cap. The bottles are studry and did not leak when I travelled with them.
Both the shampoo and conditioner have similar strong fragrance, which I happen to like a lot, and it stays for a day maximum.

The shampoo is pearly white as you can see below. I like the face that it isn't too runny. It lathers very nicely (just like the hairfall variant I was using earlier) and you don't need a lot of product or too much work to get a rich lather. The best part?
* It cleanses my oily scalp so well without stripping my hair of moisture. So my scalp feels nice and clean and my hair isn't left dry. It works equally well with hair dunked in oil.
* It has never made my hair limp till now. I get decent volume which leaves me very happy.
* It keeps my hair soft and smooth.

Coming to the conditioner, let me first tell you that I do not use conditioner after every wash. Since my hair fall limp most of the time, I use a condtioner alternately. And this is working fine for me so far (the only probelm is that the shampoo gets over quickly and then I am left with half a bottle of conditioner :P)

The texture of the condtioner is creamy and thick. Now you aould ask what is so nice and different about this conditioner? Here's what's different:
* It melts somewhat when applied and does not feel thick at all. (like how a perfect condtioner should be like).
* A little product goes a long way.
* It does not weigh down my hair.
* Leaves my hair softer and smoother and shinier (from the first use itself).

And now about the claims...does it work on split ends?
Honestly, not that much. I don't think there is anything that will magically reverse your split ends...except a ruthless trim, take off those bottom 3 inches and yes they will go. I don't have many split ends but I do have some (courtesy some often blowdrying).
What these do mainly is make your hair look softer and healthier which makes the damaged ends less noticeable. It conditions the hair nicely and maybe that prevents more split ends from occuring. But this will only last till you continue using them.
It shampoo comtains SLS and the conditioner has silicones, but I have not used an SLS free shampoo yet so I can't compare nor do I mind using it.

Price: 80 INR for 90 ml

Overall, I am very impressed with this range! I am glad I tired it and I will continue using it on rotation till the time it works well with my hair. It is a good solution if you don't want to cut your hair yet but want it to look healthier anyway. You could totally try it out :)

(P.S. I have noticed that Tresemme works for some people nicely and just doesn't for some. Like how there are so many Dove shampoo fans but Dove just makes my hair so weird and oily and limp).
