I'm From Mugwort Cream
Written by: Swati on:
2020 was the year I discovered Mugwort. It all started with the I'm From Mugwort Essence - reviewed here. I was so impressed with it that I could not wait to try more mugwort based products. Of course, I had to explore more from their line. So, after a few months the I'm From Mugwort Cream & Mugwort Mask was added to my stash. Let's talk about the cream today!
So, what is Mugwort?
It is a herb, also known as Artemisia or Wormwood- quite popular in Korean skincare & somewhat similar to tea tree, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It is known to have calming properties, effectively soothing breakouts, irritated & problematic skin. Besides, mugwort is also anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal (when it's not fermented) which makes it well suited for troubled skin.
What the brand says?
Rebalance your skin with the I’m From Mugwort Cream, a soothing moisturiser that contains the power of 73.55% pure Mugwort extract from Ganghwa, Korea, to hydrate, nourish, calm and clear the skin. Its gel-like texture transforms to a cooling and refreshing cream upon contact with the skin to purify and cleanse the complexion, to give a clear, healthy-looking appearance.

* keep in mind that it has fermented ingredients in case you have fungal acne or are sensitive to fermented products.
Texture :
The I'm From Mugwort Cream has an incredibly light gel-cream texture...silky smooth and spreads very well on the skin. It takes a few minutes to absorb and does not feel greasy or heavy once it sinks in completely. The fragrance is a mild herby-earthy one with a hint of freshness (no artificial fragrance), unique but not overpowering and doesn't linger. I expected it to smell like the essence, but it is slightly different.
The glass tub looks minimal & pretty. I would love to see a bigger size of this, in a tube maybe? (like the Klairs midnight calming cream)
My experience :
On my combination skin, this cream gives the right amount of hydration and moisture, keeping it calm, supple & nourished. It's light enough to not make my skin feel suffocated, yet it isn't so light to the point that it disappears from the skin. It leaves an almost neutral to slightly dewy finish (doesn't feel tacky).
Just like the essence, this too has a soothing & calming effect on my skin which I really like, however, compared to the essence, this falls short in the calming department. It's there, but mild.
If I had the budget to keep both the Mugwort essence & cream in my skincare routine, I would certainly do so. But since both are on the expensive side, I have to choose one and I prefer getting the essence because - (a) I find it to be more calming (b) it lasts longer & (c) I already have a cream which I love a lot (Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream) which relieves the redness & irritation better on my skin compared to the Mugwort cream.
Don't get me wrong, the I'm From Mugwort cream is really lovely. It is well formulated, does what I want a moisturizer to do & I enjoy using it. If I hadn't already found a cream that worked better for me to calm irritation, or if it was priced cheaper, I would have loved to keep it permanently in my stash. But I have a cream which is cheaper and is gives me better soothing & calming results, so naturally I prefer that one.
Price : 32$ for 50g
I really like the I'm From Mugwort Cream. It works well for my slightly irritated, breakout prone & sensitive skin. It offers mild calming & soothing benefits while keeping the skin supple & nourished. It'll work well for combination-normal skin. Dry skins might need a thicker cream on top of this and oily skins might like this during the winter. If you want to try a Mugwort product for its calming benefits & are wondering which one to get I'd recommend you check out the essence first (it's my favourite!)
Will I repurchase it? Maybe sometime. But since it is on the expensive side I won't repurchase it often.
xoxo,
Swati
