Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence

Ever since I really got into K-beauty 2 years back, I have started exploring the wonderful world of essences. I am late to the party I know but better late than never! I feel that essence was the missing step from my routine and I love using one. Why do I like essences so much? They provide the hydration I need without being heavy and most of them are packed with amazing ingredients.
Take the Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence, for example, I have been using it for about 4½ months now and the third essence I have tried so far. I stopped using it for a few weeks in between since it got way too hot and humid here but picked it back again recently. And I am finally sure how I feel about it. Read on :)

The Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence contains Niacinamide which cleanses the skin tone, and Adenosine, which maintains firmness with a wrinkle-improving ingredient certified by the FDA Safety and strengthens cell proliferation in the dermal layer. Lactobacillus/Rice fermentation inhibits melanin generation and boosts skin whitening, while Bifida fermentation solution promotes skin firmness and cares for skin damage. The 94 Boosting Essence completely eliminates harmful ingredients such as Phenoxyethanol, paraben and PEG which are common ingredients of expensive fermentation essence. The Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence is a safe product manufactured exclusively from a first-class ingredient certified as EWG Green Level, a reputable environmental accreditation group from the United States. The Boosting Essence has been certified by the Environment Working Group (EWG), a Nonprofit Environmental Organization, focused on safety in the cosmetics sector.

Notable ingredients :
- High amount of fermented ingredients - Lactobacillus from rice, mistletoe, soybean Bifida ferment lysate, Saccharomyces - which help skincare layers work & absorb better & also help brighten up the skin. (make sure you aren't allergic to fermented ingredients).
- Niacinamide 3% (proven concentration to brighten skin & boost barrier function)
- Green tea water, allantoin for soothing.
- Hyaluronic acid & glycerin for hydration & moisture.
- Adenosine promotes healing, collagen production and improves firmness & elasticity. Also helps barrier repair & protection.
The essence comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a screw-on cap. The matte brown bottle with white text looks quite nice to me.
This is a clear watery fluid essence but has a slip to it which makes the skin feel quite moist. It's lighter than most serums and the Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence but thicker than watery first essences or the I'm From Mugwort Essence. It is free of fragrance, essential oil & alcohol.
How do I use it?
I am using it in my morning routine most days: clean face → mist → one layer of the essence → moisturizer → sunscreen. Since the essence has a bunch of beneficial ingredients I don't find the need to use a separate serum.
To me, this can be used in several ways depending on your needs & routine - as a toner or essence, or as a single combined toner-essence step. You can build multiple layers of it if needed, and because the formula has 3% niacinamide, I also think that this works as a serum, sort of.
My experience:
On my combination skin, this takes some time to absorb and leaves a light moisture layer behind which feels a tad bit tacky like something is sitting on top of my skin, especially on hot humid days. So I use only a few drops and apply only a single layer. It might not feel tacky if you have dry skin.
I was a little skeptical initially since I had suffered from breakouts in the past from a niacinamide containing product, and I thought the ingredient wasn't suited to my skin, but this essence did not give me any reactions.
It adds a good amount of hydration to my skin. I also saw a slight brightening effect after 2-3 weeks once I started using the essence consistently. It wasn't drastic but my skin looked more even-toned.
I am not saying that this essence will solve hyperpigmentation issues alone, but it can act as a booster and work alongside other products.
I have been using it on & off for the past 4½ months and still have half left. A little bit goes a long way and the bottle will last for a good amount of time (shelf life after opening is 12 months).
Who is it for?
It will work for combination skin & dehydrated skin. It will even work for dry skin as a hydrating layering product. The essence is gentle, helps to keep the skin moisture barrier healthy and also mildly brightens over time. And it is a good way to add niacinamide into your routine.
Will I repurchase it?
I might not. While it has turned out to be a nice addition to my routine, it's not remarkably life-changing for me. I like it & I enjoy using it, but I reach out to and look forward to using the I'm From Mugwort Essence and the Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence a lot more and I don't think I will miss the Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence in my routine once I finish the bottle.
It is not a bad product at all, in fact, it is quite nice and packed with good ingredients. But I have 2 other essences (they offer different benefits) that I prefer over this.
