Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick #352 : Review

Written by: Swati on:

It was around last year Christmas, I was seeing red everywhere. You know when you see/hear a lot of something it kind of grows on you? That's what happened to me and I thought "why not get out of my comfort zone of neutral lip colours and glosses and try out a red lipstick...just for some fun". Now I can change my mind really fast so before that happened, I rushed to the nearest local cosmetic store and asked for all the red lipsticks they had. After about 5 mintues of trial (I am fast that way...and there weren't too many options), I was the proud owner of Lakme Enrich Satin #352. My first red lipstick! Yaay!

A red pout is super glamourous and has the ability the to perfectly transform a look. After a red lip you wouldn't need much on you face, but yes it isn't a colour that one can use everyday except some who are very comfortable with it and somehow it always looks good on them (how? how do they look so stunning?!). Knowing this, I had to get one that wasn't expensive just in case I couldn't pull it off and this fit the budget perfectly.

Product Calims - Deep conditioning lipcolor enriched with Vitamin E for softer and smoother lips. Contains strawberry, grape seed, and peach extracts to keep lips nourished and soft.

The Lakme Enrich Satin range is nothing new to us. The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly, though a bit boring. A plum case with golden band. and the shade number below. It could have been something that wasn't so dull..like their new 9 to 5 lipsticks? See how great they look!
Having said that, this isn't too bad and a fancier packaging would mean a price hike. So I am fine with this one. They are affordable

352 is a gorgeous bright cherry red (not too dark, not maroonish. Just a great bright red colour) which will look flattering on most Indian skin tones. It definitely brightens up the face and can be worn as a stain (which I usually do!) or a full bold colour.

Left- One swipe; Right- 2 swipes

It is very nicely pigmented and one good swipe will give you good coverage, although 2 swipes makes it look completely opaque and a lot better (see the pic above).
Texture is creamy and gives a glossy finish (which I hope you can see in the pics). It glides smoothly. There is no tugging and the colour goes on evenly. Most of the Enrich Satins have a good formula though not as great as the other better lipsticks. Maybelline Colorsenational Mositure Extreme lipsticks are in the same price range and they have a better formula.
This colour tends to bleed slightly. I think it will work better with a lip pencil. Also, after a few hours of wear, the creamy moisture finish goes and then it can feel a bit drying.
The colour stays for around 3- 3.5 hours on me with light snacking. It will fade away with time. The lipstick wears off unevenly and the colour sort of stays in the fine lines of the lip. So a re-application is totally essential. You cannot do without it.

Two swipes withouth a lip liner
Pros:
  • Affordable.
  • Great pigmentation.
  • Good bright red colour.
  • Will suit most skin tones.
  • Creamy and smooth (for most of the wear time).
  • Easily available.
Cons:
  • Ingredient list not mentioned.
  • Wears slightly unevenly.
  • Can feel a bit drying after sometime.
  • Does not last very long.
  • Transfers easily.
  • Slight bleeding (needs a liner).
If you have never tried a red lipstick before and are unsure whether it will suit you or not, but still want to try one out, then Lakme Enrich Satin 352 is a good option for you. It is a great colour, inexpensive and will suit most Indian skin tones. However, if you want one that stays longer and doesn't bleed at all then I would not recommend it to you.

Price: 225 INR for 4.4ml

P.S. Can you suggest an affordable red lip liner to go with this? I am clueless.
