Maybelline SuperStay Gel Polish, Midnight Red & Rose Poudre : Review & Swatches
Written by: Swati on:
I was on a nailpolish ban for a while now, trying to first finish the ones already in my stash. But then the other day I was passing by the Maybelline Counter and 2 shades just called out to me so much, I had to pick these babies up... They had my name written all over the bottle. Deep Red & a Pinky Nude? Yes! Anyday!
The 2 shades being from their SuperStay Gel Polish collection - 287 Midnight Red and 130 Rose Poudre. Just take a moment and look at the picture below.. aren't both beautiful?!
The polish comes with a wide curved brush which makes the application a breeze! Even with the dark color, I hardly ever mess up. Loved the applicator of these!
The formula is quite creamy, most colors are amazingly pigmented and one coat is enough. The lighter ones like rose Poudre are on the sheer side and need 2 coats to be opaque. They are non-streaky. They don't dry to a gel finish, but they give you 6-7 days of wear easily with barely any chipping. They don't dry super fast but its reasonable.
287 Midnight Red is a deep red burgundy color (with some brown undertones).
It will especially look perfect in autumn-winter, but I love such colors all year round too. It doesn't go on as shiny as the other one, but one coar is enough to get true color.
One of my favorite ever deep reds was Maybelline Colorama Ruby which has been discontinued sadly, so this is a good replacement. It is darker than Ruby, but gorgeous nevertheless.

130 Rose Poudre is dusty rose/blush nude color (pink-y mauve-y nude). It gives a very elegant look and would be perfect for work too. The shade will look good on fair-medium skin tones.
It's no secret that I love nude polishes. Not the browny nudes, that just make my skin look so dull. The nudes with a slight pinker tinge work/look so much better.
Rose Poudre required 2 coats to go opaque and has a nice glossy finish, a lot more than Midnight Red.

Yes, the price is on the higher side which is slightly disappointing (and mainly why I tired staying away from these), but now that I have tried them, I totally get the price tag! The range has a good selection of colors, you will defintely find a shade you like. Plus they do stay for 6-7 days easily. I am super tempted to go pick up a few more shades soon! :)
Have you tired the Maybelline SuperStay Gel Polish? Which is your favourite shade from the range?
