Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Written by: Swati on:
A few weeks back I had spoken about the Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil and my eternal love for it. My love for facial oils is increasing with each passing day and I don't mind investing in good skincare products anymore, even though they are a bit expensive. I now use the Clarins one 2-3 time a week, and the other days I bring out the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
Midnight Recovery Concentrate
A replenishing nighttime facial oil with distilled botanicals that visibly restores the appearance of skin by morning.
- Regenerates, restores, and replenishes skin for smoother, healthier skin
- Works with the skin's natural nocturnal activity - when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressors - to dramatically restore skin
- 99.8% naturally-derived and paraben-free oil for face
It comes in a tinted blue glass bottle with a glass pipette. It isn't a wise idea to travel with it, I have't tried it so far.
The texture of this oil is a lot lighter when compared to the Clarins one. 2-3 drops are required for the entire face. It sinks in fast leaving no greasiness behind.
Squalane (skin identical ingredient & emollient), Evening Primrose Oil (soothing & emollient), Jojoba Seed Oil, Tocopherol (antioxidant) are high on the ingredient list. It also has cucumber fruit extract and turmeric root extract & sunflower seed oil.
The oil also contains lavender oil, rosemary oil and fragrance, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to them.
So what does MRC do for me?
In general I feel like this keeps my skin maintained in it's somewhat good state.
While the Clarins oil balances my skin, MRC keeps it behaving. It makes my skin softer and more supple. It maintains it in a general healthy condition. It has not broken me out yet.
I had tested a sample first & highly recommend you to try a sample first too as this is expensive.
I use 2-3 drops of the oil on my damp face (after cleasning) 3-4 times a week. I have managed to finish about 25-30% even with continous use, so a bottle will last you a long time! Since I have oily-combination skin, I do not feel the need to follow it up with a moisturizer.
Price: 3500INR for 30ml (available here)
Price update : 2100 INR for 15ml ; 3800 INR for 30ml
It is not an oil to work miracles on your skin overnight. It probably won't be too effective for correcting wrinkles and all that (I cannot really comment on it since I don't have wrinkles yet). what MRC does is give me supple healthy skin which behaves itself on most days. This is not a cheap product certainly, so it would be wise to try out a sample before investing in a full sized bottle. Investing in good skincare products trumps buying expensive makeup anyday. Don't you think so too?

Update : I finished 1 bottle and have repurchased it. :)
