DIY : Natural Cheek and Lip Stain

Written by: Swati on:

During these past winter months, mom made a lot of tomato soup (we had shared the recipe here) and one of the ingredients in it was beetroot. And of course I had to try this out, with all the beet around! Now this is not something new I am sharing here, it has been tried by a lot of women too. It looked fun and so I wanted to try it out as well.

Beetroot Cheek and Lip Stain

You will need:
  • I medium sized Beetroot
  • A thin muslin cloth
  • A small container
Trim the skin from the beet and chop it up into tiny pieces. Use a mixer/processor to make a fine paste. Filter the paste using a muslin cloth and collect the clear liquid in a small container (I used an old lip balm jar, but on second thoughts an old lip gloss tube would work so better).
Store your container in the fridge (stays for around 2-3 weeks easily) or in the freezer, like I did (stays for about 2 months. It gets frozen but you can use it still).
Use a cotton swab or lip brush to apply it and give yourself a natural pink stain :)

Of course, this is something that cannot be used every single time and it will not replace the store products which are more convenient to use, but it is so much fun! Plus it is organic and I am loving using it everyday around the house. And as a bonus this helps lighten lips too! I want to try making the powder version next! :)

Have you tried using a beetroot stain before?
