Maybelline V-Face Duo Stick : Review & Swatches

Written by: Swati on:

I haven't really ventured into contouring before. I always loved using a highlighter and stuck to that, but contouring wasn't really my thing. Mainly because I couldn't find the right products. I did get a bronzer/contour powder a while back and I used it on my jaw line sometimes, but that's about it. So when Maybelline came out with their new V-Face collection I was super excited to try it out!
I spoke about the V-Face blush contour a couple of weeks back and got a lot of requests to review the Duo Stick as well. So here it is :)

First of all, I love the packaging. The product comes in a dual ended retractable stick - The contour shade on one end and a highlight on the other. It is sleek and would work well while travelling as well. The product itself comes like a lipstick bullet.

The Duo Stick is available in 2 shades - fair to medium ; medium to dark. Though I don't think the contour shade is deep enough to show well on the darker skin tones.

The formula of both the contour and highlight is creamy. It glides on the skin smoothly and blends in well. The finish isn't oily so it can be used on all skin types. I like blending it in with my fingers usually and sometimes with a the Real techniques Expert Face Brush.

The conotur is a mid toned brown, not crazily pigmented, so you can work with it to build color. You cannot go overboard with it easily, which makes it very ideal for beginners who have just started experimenting with contouring. It gives quite a natural subtle finish

The highlghter is a pretty champagne pearl. It isn't shimmery or glittery. It blends in well to give a natural subtle glow and will suit all skin tones.

I am quite enjoying using this overall. I wish the contour shade was a bit more cool toned and that there were more colors available (the range lacks a contour color for deeper skin tones). But I do like how easy it is to use this product and ther naturqal finish it gives. It is making me contour way more often than what I used to. You can top it off with a contour powder (the Duo powder and the Duo Blush have them), to extend wear time.
