25 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self : Part 2

Written by: Smriti on:

Hey, you made it through the first five morsels of advice, good job!

I can’t wait to share a little more, so let’s have a chat, you and I!

  • Put out more positive thought and affirmations. I cannot stress this enough. It’s something I am still reminding myself to do every day, but the earlier you start off the happier you’re going to be. The universe has unlimited capacity to manifest your dreams, so make sure you set the right intention and create nothing but an aura of positivity around it. Never say you can’t do it, rather, tell yourself you’ll try your best and have faith that it will be okay.
  • Drink water. Seriously, your dry skin is going to be a perennial problem and is pushing you down the path of early ageing, so hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Not just your skin, your entire body will thank you for it and you’ll have a healthy way of detoxing with 0 effort. Nothing to lose!
  • Savour the little moments. Whether it be a light and fluffy roti, or basic khichdi, or the weekly hot champi, these often go by unappreciated. College and hostel life will be difficult, to say the least, and many a time these little things will make you cry. So the next time you’re eating a soft roti, tell your Mom how much you like it, and always be grateful that you have homely nourishing food to fill your tummy.
  • Practice better time management. Again, this is something I’m still incorporating into my life presently, but start soon so you can become a pro at it! You won’t make it through medical school if you’re abysmal with time. Create that to-do list, block time for tasks, eliminate distractions and keep a track of your daily activities in order to reach your daily goals.
  • Don’t give up on your hobbies. I’m regretting it now and will probably find it very difficult to make space for it in my life. Learn to play the guitar, you were a fast learner anyway. Finish learning Turkish so you can enjoy watching Ask Laftan Anlamaz! And please don’t skip reading for pleasure, books are an escape from the toils of daily life and you’ll miss not having them! Hobbies nourish the soul, so make sure yours is healthy and happy!

So that was all for today, a mixed-bag of light and heavy thoughts for you to absorb. Hopefully, by these, you'll be better at living the life of your dreams!

Lots of love,
Smriti
