Blue Eyeshadow Look : Monsoon Makeup
Written by: Swati on:
I do love me a nice blue on the eyes. I will however admit that before today, I kept blue limited to an eyeliner or a blue toned kajal/kohl on the lower lash line. Last year I picked up a blue mascara to dive further into the color.
But never did I think that I would do a full blown BLUE EYESHADOW LOOK!
But, I have been playing with colors lately! And I am loving it!
Don't believe it? Check out my :

Also, since it looks like the rains aren't coming this side any time soon (while most of the country has started enjoying their rainy days)...I thought I might as well enjoy some shades of blue, very apt for the monsoon:D
I went in for a dramatic winged eyeshadow this time.
1. Apply concealer/eyeshadow base to even out the darkness on the lid to help the color show up better - MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot - Layin' Low
2. I used a bright blue eyeshadow stick as a base for my powder shadow - Nyx Jumbo Eye pencil - Cobalt
3. Pat in your blue shadow all over the lid upto the crease. Pull it out to create a rough wing shape - PAC Pressed Pigmented eyeshadow - Infinity
4. I have used a mid tone brown to blend in the blue in the crease... but just a little bit since I did not want the wing to loose it's definition. - Huda Smokey Obessions palette - matte brown shade
5. The outer corner has a matte black shadow blended in with the blue - Huda Smokey Obessions palette - matte black shade
6. Apply the blue shadow in your lower lash line and smudge it out. Add a bit of black shadow in the outer corner on the lower lash line & blend them together.
7. Make the lower lash line meet the upper lid shadow make a wing shape.
8. Add some light blue shadow (I used the same deeper blue mixed in with a bit of silver shadow) in the inner corner.
9. Clean up the edges of the wing with a wipe/Q-tip and give a clean wing shape.
10. I added some dark blue liquid liner very near to my lashes for some definition - Maybelline Hyper Ink Glitz Eye Liner - Navy
11. Use a dark blue kajal on your waterline - Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil - Navy blue (reviewed here)
12. Curl lashes & add tones of mascara - Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara
Since blue is a super bold color & I used it all over, I paired the look with a nude toned lipstick - Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color - Telluride & a neutral peachy blush to balance it out.
Make sure to add some brightness under your eye with concealer - Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer
I filled in my brows lightly using the L'Oreal Brow Artist pencil
Let's admit that blue is quite a difficult color to wear especially for us Indian/Brown toned girls. It's quite bold and can be intimidating.
Which is why it is important to pick up a shade of blue to suit your skintone.
While light blues & bright turquoise can end up looking a bit garish on us, jewel toned blues, navy, royal blue, midnight blue (blue with a bit of black tones) all look fabulous!
Hope you liked this look! And I hope some of you got inspired to try blue eyeshadow :)
Don't forget to check out my previous looks :
